Title: Rear sprocket guard
Post by: Johndoc on December 18, 2020, 11:45:12 AM
Hi good people, has anyone found a way of getting a rear sprocket guard sourced and fitted. I am aware there is a reproduction one but it is very expensive for what it is. I am sure one could be fashioned from another bike, anyone done this? I have a guard from another Honda in the garage but it is too small for this job.

This is a very difficult to find part. Being fixed to the origianl sprocket with rivets meant they were binned when the original sprocket wore out. I don't remember aftermarket sprockets having the guard fitted. I have seen a few on ebay for sale but at a lot of money. I thnk that is why DSS is now making a replica part.
If you can find one I would attach it using button head bolts cut to length and given a good dose of loctite to prevent them coming off as I doubt there will be sufficient clearance on the other side to fit a nyloc nut.

CB250N/ 400/ superdream? had a guard on the rear sprocket, fairly close in size to the 400/4

I'm not sure you won't have to drill holes in the sprocket to actually fit it.  Re the idea of getting a CB250N sprocket, the chain and sprockets of the original was not interchangeable with the Deluxe  model....I found out!  ::)
