Hello all, recently joined because I've bought a 1971 CB250 K2 which is very very rusty. Currently stripping it down and hoping to get the frame powder coated for New Year.
Had bikes as a kid including a 1967 cb450 then returned to bikes a couple of years ago with a 1995 cbr600f which felt like a bullet compared to 70's bikes. I'm now running a 1250 Bandit and a 900 Triumph America. Love the Bandit, still not sure about the America.
As I live in Shaw, Oldham, I would be very interested if anyone can recommend a painter to do my tank/side panels/headlamp/fork shrouds in the original gold and white, somewhere in Lancs/Yorks ?

Welcome to the forum Andy. I also had a few CBR600's back in the day, still ride a Thundercat but feel more at home riding the old Classic Honda's these days, it's an age thing I think :'( :'( :'( Have fun.

You'll find that us 400/4 owners are the most opinionated on here - for example Julie has a Thundercat but wishes she had a VFR. My son has the 650 Bandit (this is the water cooled one) as his first big bike. Must say they are very nice to ride.

welcome to the site, the older bikes seem to have more character, and attract more attention

Welcome Andy. I could never afford a CB250 so made do with a CB160 until a CB200 came along followed by a 400/4 :D. Looking forward to some resto photos.
I had a Triumph Sprint ST from new. Lovely engine, nice handling, great sounding exhaust, unique styling but a terrible finish, thin flaking paint on the wheels and frame, rusty stainless(?) discs, furry bolts and paper thin plastics, and it was always garaged :(. It was never as good as the VFR800 I traded it in for or my later Blackbird but it used to attract a few looks and was creamy smooth to ride. If Triumph can sort their quality of finish and drop their prices they could have some winners. As it is though, 12k for a Bonnie Thruxton is a bit rich for a bike made in Thailand.
