Misc / Open / Am I being unreasonable?
« on: September 07, 2024, 11:43:43 AM »
Guys, I am not against a bit of profit making after all that’s what makes businesses work. But don’t take the piss! I know how much you can source these for.

CB500/550 / Rear hub d ring.
« on: September 03, 2024, 05:37:04 PM »
Hi folks, I think I am looking for rocking horse poo here but does anyone have or know where I can get a rear hub d ring part No 91261323000. Somebody had ones on here, I didn’t buy one then because I didn’t need one. Think it was Oddjob. I could maybe obtain an o ring 79 x 2.6mm rather than fit nothing.

Well after a nice run out on this machine on Sunday (although it drizzled the entire afternoon) I came back and parked bike on the bike lift and have decided to start a bit of resto work. I don’t know how far this one is going to go in cash pit terms. I think it is mostly a cosmetic project as the engine runs great without any clattering or rattling. There s the usual head oil leak that I will sort so hopefully just a top end rebuild. Not decided whether I will remove engine from frame or sort with engine in place. I have done quite a bit to this bike already to put back on the road such as swingarm bushes, brakes, new handlebars clutch basket rubbers. Looking forward to all the fun ahead! Winter project? Maybe more than one winter, I’ll see how thing go on the expenditure.😜

Misc / Open / Any knowledge about this dealer?
« on: August 02, 2024, 06:29:38 PM »
Whilst cleaning up and getting ready for our local classic vehicle rally I was wondering if there’s any knowledge on here about the supplier of this bike. It is a 1987 C90.

CB750 / Fuel restriction.

This cracks me up! Could never understand why the outlet on some of these taps weren’t positioned away from obstructions like out the back of the tap horizontally. Had a nice run out a few days ago on returning the engine started making a horrible noise and instead of stopping I limped along to get nearer home until eventually it cut out completely. I did think it was catastrophic. After having a good look around couldn’t see any oil or fluid leaks anywhere. Pushed the button to start and away it went so hopped on and drove home. This is what I discovered when I got back to base.
Sorry if pic 90 out. Click and it’s fine!

We have all I’m sure like myself had plenty to comment about ev’s, so I thought in order to qualify for a proper appraisal I would have to be an ev owner. I have until very short ago myself said that I wouldn’t have an ev because of the price, but since I got the offer of one for the same price as a petrol/diesel I thought why not! These have certainly come down in price significantly. So ferry booked away with vehicle to trade in and did the deal. I must admit this didn’t seem right that I was going to drive the 130 mls home just relying on a charged battery! Set off anyway after killing a couple of hours in Inverness with 212mls on the range indicator. I was a bit stressed watching the range indicator heading up the road but my fears were allayed when I arrived at ferry check in with 80 miles still “in the tank” or whatever us ev owners say. Very pleased to arrive home and hadn’t really given much thought into how I was going to charge this thing up when I got home. A trip to Lidl the next day and I was charged up again. I’m probably just going to slow charge from home as we will be doing somewhere in the region of 3000mls an year. Nearly all short runs around town. Forgot to mention it’s a Peugeot e2008. GT, and had 673mls on the clock at purchase, so not brand new. Time will tell, but very happy so far. 😁

« on: April 30, 2024, 08:24:50 PM »
Can’t remember which post we were referencing Digital Speedos on but I have been informed my order was dispatched today. By the way I ordered on the 1st March. I have bought an Axel Joost module (similar to motogadget) and a wiring harness for my next rust bucket challenge!😁

Misc / Open / Spoke thread?
« on: April 08, 2024, 08:11:29 PM »
This has probably cropped up before but what is the thread on my spokes? I know that sounds like how long is a piece of string! Thing is I have probably 4 sets of spokes that were wrongly sent for my C90’s number of years ago, just cheap so not worth sending back at the time. Now I would like to shorten them and re thread them to fit a 14” wheel off a QT50. I couldn’t get my metric or imperial thread gauge to marry up to the thread. Anybody else encountered this?

Lovely spell of weather here at the moment and my oldest grand daughter has been on about a bike ride all winter after taking her out for a run for the first time back end of last year. Thought she would be that terrified she wouldn’t be wanting to try that again. Picture sums it up!

Misc / Open / Posting pics.😡
« on: March 29, 2024, 07:46:52 AM »
Now I’m not that clever when it comes to posting pics and computer ma bobs! Up until now I have never had any problems posting up until recently. If there is anybody else here posting from an iPad which I normally use for browsing, forum etc you might have encountered the same issue. I normally have my iPhone on me so that’s what I use to take most of my pics then it automatically links and updates to my iPad. Up until recently I select a pic to attach to a post then at the bottom of the pic I had the option to resize - large, medium etc but now that option is gone.😡 Problem now is the photos are too large in format terms to post. I don’t really know if I’ve done something or was it after a software update? I have got round the issue I now have to screen shot and edit the pics to enable me to post. It’s a nuisance but more than one way to “skin a cat”! What a horrible saying! I’m too much of a pussy person to even considerate it!😂😂

Misc / Open / Barn find!
« on: March 20, 2024, 09:57:51 PM »
I have been distracted severely over the last few days but slowly getting over it. The distraction in question is an engine that belonged to my father who passed away in the early eighties. Remarkably it was still in the loft of the barn where it was used and the place I was born. I am not into old stationary engines in anyway but this had sentimental value. It is all seized up bet that is understandable since it has sat for the last 60 or maybe even 70 years without running. It is a Fairbanks Morse Z type 3 1/2hp. I’m quite sure it will run. It just doesn’t know it yet!🤣 But first major soaking in oil, WD40, parrafin, diesel etc. This is a true “barn find”! 😜

Had a lovely run out today in the sunshine, although sub 10C . And a bonus as Ian Stallard was actually home! 😂 Nice tour of the “toy cupboard” and a lovely cup of tea, chat and bit of banter. Thanks Ian! 50 miles shake down.

Major improvement. Not an enjoyable job! Shorter top brake hose on order, new throttle cables, need to order a clutch cable yet, 750 clutch cable on it at the moment.🤭
