Lovely, thanks for that. Nice and comfortable I presume?
Yes - very comfortable indeed.
Great, I will get one ordered. I do have the original red foam seat but it’s not the most comfortable and this way I can preserve it as well.

Does anyone know of any current suppliers of a decent repro seat for a 750K0?
There are a couple that I have found, both with plastic bases, a metal would be preferred but would also be happy with a proven quality plastic.
The ones I’ve found so far are CMS and MonkyDax, does anyone have any experience of either?
Cheers
Greg

It wasn’t my first choice but a puncture to my Triumph meant I rode just shy of 200 miles on the K7 today, of which 140 miles were with Mrs C as a pillion and she didn’t miss a beat (the bike, not my wife!) It also drew plenty of attention from gentlemen of a certain age on our stops. I didn’t get any pictures unfortunately but this was just before I put her back in the garage after the days efforts. I love this bike.

I’ve manage to get the old shocks off, it was just a case of more muscle. Could anyone offer a bit of advice with the next step? The new shocks are slimmer at the top than the originals and come supplied with three washers, these take up the difference to pack out to the end of the mounting post and allow the shocks to be fitted nice and snug, firstly is this ok and secondly, where would you fit the washers? On the inside of the shock, on the outside of the shock, a mix of both? Hope I’m making sense. I’m over thinking this now! Here’s a couple of pictures to show the difference between the new and the old.

Have you tried removing the lower bolt and then just moving the shock front to back whilst pulling at the same time, usually works.
Yes, I had presumed it would slip off pretty easily but I think it’s going to need some persuasion! I’ve moved onto the Bonneville brakes for this afternoons tinkering. I’ve always had bikes on and off since my teens but only recently started to get stuck into the work needed on them myself. I’m no stranger to using tools but spannering on a bike is pretty new to me, so I am a little cautious... as you can probably tell! The more I do, the more I love it.

The rubber on the new shocks actually look ok to me, the stud it fits on goes much bigger after the thread part so it could well fit when the old shock is removed.
Aaaaahhhh, that would make sense. The thread is 10mm and the new shock rubber is around a 15mm opening. Thank you, I will have a go at getting them off and the new ones on over the weekend now I feel a bit more confident.

Prize the edge of the rubber bush up a bit and get some WD40 in there using the thin nozzle extension between the bush and the mounting. You will probably have to do it in a few places to allow the WD40 to penetrate. They are not mechanically fixed, the rubber bush is just very tight.
Cheers, I guess I also need a new bush of some sort for the top mount of the new shocks, or can the existing be used again in them, they are far too big?

In the end I bought some YSS shocks and had heavier springs fitted, I’m no lightweight these days! Any advice here though? I can’t wrestle the existing shocks off, they are held tight by the rubber inserts, also the new shock eyelets are much bigger then the mounting, any suggestions as to how to remove the old shocks successfully without causing any carnage and are these just the wrong shocks or should I have some kind of insert perhaps??

Ok, this is possibly going to be the dumbest questions that has been asked here and I have held off asking it whilst I tried to find out the answer but…
Can you get right sided centre stands?
Every bike that I have ever owned with one has operated from the left side but due to my current driveway and garage configuration I really could do with a centre stand that operates from the right side on my K7. I have to fit the bikes in, in a certain way to make the most of the limited space, the driveway has a decent incline, so the bike has to be backed in.
Does such a thing exist or would it be possible for someone with the necessary know how to modify an existing centre stand? If I could find a solution to this it would make my bike storage solution a lot easier and would involve less moving one to get to another.

I have now completed the master cylinder and it is back on the bike and working a treat. I will get round to the oil and filter soon and I will be sure to look for the washer and check the relief valve. Thanks all.

There is a relief valve fitted to the oil pump and another fitted to the oil filter bolt, the filter bolt one is one I've recently found to be sticking, I tested 5 bolts and only one worked as it should, one was jammed and the other 3 were sticking. This relief valve is just a small cup with a spring which forces it up inside the bolt, the spring is held in place by a small roll pin. To test the relief valve get a small piece of right angled metal and slide it into one of the holes right under the nut end of the bolt, you can see the relief valve up overing up the next layer of holes, press down on the cup and the holes should become exposed, it should then move back into place when you release the pressure on it. The idea is that if the oil filter blocks or collapses (which one of mine has in the past) the pressure of the oil will force the cup down, oil will now flow through the top holes and exit the next holes down, these holes will be inside the filter when it's in place. So it bypasses the filter and allows oil to go into the engine but of course it's now unfiltered oil so it's not a good idea to leave it like that.
That help?
Can these be brought back to life if they are sticking or is a replacement bolt?

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for that. I also read on her somewhere that someone had tested four out of 5 oil filter housing bolts and found them to not be working correctly, I did wonder whether it might be wise to order and fit one of these as well?
