I remember converting my 550 to dual disk back in the early 80’s... i used the same parts as on the original setup as the forks were already drilled... so in other words a mirrored set up, it was a 1978 model and I was able to re-assemble the parts as a mirrored assembly. All i remember was being very dissapointed as there seemed to be little if any improvement in performance. I dont think those old single piston calipers are much kop and thats one thing I'm not looking forward to experiencing again when i get my 750k4 on the road. Maybe modern pads make a difference these days...

Ive been out in the garage this afty so had chance to dig out the cb and have a good look at the vin... On close inspection the vin number is actually embossed (raised up) and also printed over the top in ink. So when the cables have rubbed on it they have removed the paint on the top of the figures and let the bare aluminium show through making it look to have been stamped... so looks like you were right to think it was ok 👍

I was just comparing the vin plate to the one on my us model James.... the number on mine is not stamped, just printed like the rest of the plate, the headstock is stamped on the other side as you said... fortunately it matches too  :)

The plate on the ebay bike looks to be stamped although the font looks correct. Did Honda supply two styles of vin plate, printed ones and stamped ones?... Ive no experience of comparing us and uk models mine is the first sohc I’ve owned in 30 odd years and i cant remember what my old 550 had

Im comparing it to the vin plate on mine which has the vin printed in silver same as the rest of the text.... This one looks like the original number has been obliterated and re-stamped and filed smooth....?

I didn’t realise there was a stamped number on the other side of the headstock on the us bikes. Better go out and check mine  :o

Who would buy anything off a bloke with a user name like that lol....

Bike looks ok to my untrained eye, but i imagined a K0 would be worth more ?

Yep.... i guess they own the bikes and can do as they please even if it means splitting bikes... they're in it to make money after all... a bike of theirs sold for over 4k last week and didnt look any better than any of the others they've sold recently.... and another decent looking one didnt even reach its reserve.

Its def worth a look round.. a group of us from the 2 stroke forum went there a few years ago, iirc one of my 2stroke pals organised an open day for a group of us to visit... otherwise its only open on certain days. The place is untidy like an old used workshop, its big with loads of bikes and tons of other motoring memorabilia stacked all over the place... oil cans, signposts..etc.. my main recollection is the few nice vincents he has in there...

Definitely what riding them s all about, although it seems surprising to take a 3k classic bike racing  :o ... personally I'd rather see them ridden than kept as museum pieces.

The pipe configuration is the same as those on my usa import, 1+4, 2+3, i believe these pipes are "jardine's" who should know a thing or two about making pipes... and confirms what you are saying.

Just a simple thought but have you checked the fuel tank vent.... does the problem occurr immediately or after a few mins of running? Blocked or partially blocked vent wouldn't slow the fuel flow down immediately so a flow test might show up ok... but the flow would reduce after a while..

Spoke to the DVLA a few days ago about getting an age related registration number. I told them that as far as I know Honda wouldn't confirm the age of the bike as it isn't  a uk model, as i had been told by DK and also on Honda uk website. I wanted to confirm that they would accept a dating letter from the vjmc before I shelled out for one. The woman on the phone told me i could use a vjmc letter but that i would also need to provide a letter from Honda saying why they couldn't date the bike...  she also said I would need the nova letter...although you dont actually need to send it, you just ned to know that it has been processed...

So today I called Honda UK to ask for a letter. I was surprised to be told by the customer services that if i send details of the model, the engine and chassis number along with a cheque for £30 they will provide the service.... thats not what i had expected them to say. So this afty i sent off the letter and cheque and will wait to see what happens.....according to them it can take upto 6 weeks.
