I have used maidstone motoliner on a couple of ocasions. This was to straighten wheels not forks but i can definitely vouch for their ability as the job they did on the wheels was superb..... the wheels were returned to me in quite astonishingly straight condition, one was aluminium alloy and the other was an expensive Honda Magtek...

Be careful, its going to be very difficult if not impossible to avoid getting swarfe in the cylinder when fitting any kind of insert. Will need to be vacuumed out somehow.....

Nice looking machine. I do like modern sports bikes but even 20 year old ones are way too fast for our busy pot-hole riddled, loose gravelly roads.... Prob me just getting old 👀

Where's My Old Bike? / Re: Honda CB550 four K AWY 834S

I always fancied an F model with the 4 into 1 pipes and different paint.....never got one though 😔. These days i like the look of the earlier models with 4 pipes, and the cb500's... they look chunkier. I always thought my 550 looked to have a "skinny" looking motor compared to the chunky 750's. Im looking forward to getting my 750 sorted out and otr..... Delkevic short pipe 4into1 and a classic giuliari two-four seat if i can get one, if not a replica will do.... I have an original giuliari for my RD but they seem to be very rare these days.....😳

Apparently a vehicle with start-stop technology counts as a hybrid as far as the proposed legislation is concerned...... so i dont expect to see drastic changes overnight.... Electric vehicles are coming for sure but the car manufacturers need to solve things yet like batteries, there isn't enough cobalt in the world to satisfy the potential need for batteries 🤔

« on: September 16, 2017, 10:21:55 AM »
For me its a convenience thing, i wont have to travel to and from the mot station five times a year. Wont make any difference to the safety of my bikes as i try to keep them roadworthy and dont just have blind faith in the fact that they are mot'd. As has already been said, you may come into contact with somebody who abuses the system and rides a dangerous vehicle but that can happen anyway, mot is just one check one day a year so no guarantee of year-round safety. Im a bit of a cynic when it comes to the govt, there is always some money-saving motive for their actions somewhere..... and they tend to focus on the big picture too i.e. cars and commercials emmission testing etc.... Are they lining all classic vehicles up for something further down the line when the end of the ic engine is looming?  who knows...... Make the most of it while you can 👍

Its a shame some butcher has been in there before you, stripping threads and whatever else.... hope you can sort it out. How cheap / easy are spare motors to get hold of? Might be worth investigating before spending loads on that one..... Good luck mate !

What happened next? Did it settle down, could you ride it home? Is it ok now or still the same? We need more info. Sounds to me like something has happened to the throttle control cables, either  snagged or not located properly in the carb or the throttle tube.... were you negotiating a turn have you routed the cables correctly. Apologies if you've  already checked all of this...

My first bike was a silver Honda CB100N, my twin bro had a brown one, UEE 54T and UEE 53T.... they were good little learner bikes, most of my pals had fizzies and then RD250's...  I waited a couple of years befor I bought an RD250F, had it 2 months before somebody stole it from the bike shed at work JUA 431V, never saw it again.... My cub is painfully slow but great fun. She's off the road at the mo in need of a bit of fettling... oil passing from the crank case into the points cover.
