Title: Cb550 1975 main fuse sizes

Hi.

Still waiting for my Clymer mag to come, could someone tell me the size of the main tube fuses please?

15a main fuse. 7a headlight and 5a tail.

Size is 25mm. A bit hard to get nowadays.

Yes indeed, I did manage to source 25mm fuses off eBay after a bit of searching but by the time I got them home they were getting on for a quid each.

Yes just got some thinner ones from Halfords for the moment judy to test things, but  will buys some correct ones tonight.

Unfortunately I'm mr standard and original, but I have though about that.

I found that with the standard fuse box the fuses would vibrate downwards and come out of their holders.
Even with squeezing the holder together they still did it.

Replaced with a 4 way blade fuse box, so i have a spare as well.

I can source 15A 8A & 5A Glass fuses (30mm L x 6.4mm Dia,) fairly cheaply but have yet to be able to find a source of 8A ones Try looking on the M&P motorcycle website will give you a idea of cost I have a trade account with them if that helps you

There is an "age" problem with these fuse boxes in that the clips loose their "springiness" so the joint becomes a high resistance and heats up, frequntly enough to break  the contact between fuse and end cap(a swine to diagnose as the fuse looks good) and has been known to interupt the contact at back of fuse box and melt plastic box
