OH no. I'm so sad. I didn't know that the Sister and Trigger were joined at the hip. Where will I find my next wife now!
More importantly (sorry Julie) who will sort my electrics out. Only firing on 3 cylinders instead of the usual 5!! Still I'll get the front wheel back on before I take it to Horncastle. Above sentiments fully endorsed. Ricardo 18
CB350/400 / more front wheel bearing queries.« on: May 30, 2019, 09:54:47 AM »
Regarding the spacer. It has flanges on both ends. Different positioning and slight difference in size each end. I remember reading that you should take a note about what way round it goes.
I didn't!!!!!!!! Help Ricardo 20
CB350/400 / renewing front bearing« on: May 29, 2019, 05:33:00 PM »
Hello again.
I'm preparing to replace the front wheel bearings. One of the workshop manuals says pack the bearings AND the hub with grease. The ones I removed seem to be sealed and filling the hub with grease will take an hour. Also there was no grease in the hub when I took it apart. Ricardo 21

CB350/400 / stripping black paint from chrome.« on: May 29, 2019, 09:21:34 AM »
Good morning
I've just stripped black paint from men front rim. The chrome underneath isn't too bad with just a light showing of rust in places. I'd like to keep the rim. If I remove as much rust as I can would it be possible to stabilise the whole surface with something. Clear lacquer maybe. Ricardo Ps I've removed tyre and spokes. 24

Now I'm confused. As usual.
Tyre spec according to Haynes is front 3.00 S18 (4PR). The spare tyre is 90/90-18 M/C 57P I suppose the M/C is motor cycle but the rest is Chinese to me. The existing Feng shui tyre is 3.00 -18. 47p Advice please or I will have to walk everywhere Ricardo 26

Thanks Julie.
Ill check in the manual and be sure that the right tyre is going on Any views on using paint stripers to remove the black paint sprayed in the hub and rim. It seems the cheapest option?! 27

Thanks to both of you. I have a spare used tyre which came with bike. Seems to have very little wear on it. As I'd be taking tyre off anyway should I replace it with this one?

tyre is 'hent (or Heng) sinh
Lettering a bit weird. Tyre in good condition but the 2 parallel lines near the edge of the tyre seems a bit off centre. A clear gap between the inner one and the rim but not visible gap on the opposite side of the tyre. Ive made no adjustments Ricardo 29

hi. thanks for reply. Apologies for late response.
It was there when I drove the bike away. I thought tyre might have been a bit flat. it was a little. Toppoed air up and it helped somewhat. I have been doing other stuff since but all suggested investigations have not resulted in a solution. Tyre and wheel off so I;ll look at tyre and let you know. Ricardo 30

Bikers thanks.
No the steering doesn't vibrate or shudder. It feels as if the steering is imprecise. I seem to have to always be turning the bars to keep the bike on a straight line. Probably more noticeable while on a bend On another bike I once had with excellent steering it behaved like this when my front tyre was below pressure Does that mean anything different.? Ricardo. |
