Title: CX650turbo
Post by: Sgt.Pinback on July 13, 2017, 12:23:07 PM
Just finished the resto of my CX650turbo. Bike was sitting in a shed since 1995.

Passed the MOT today and did my first, careful 10 miles.

Bike will be for sale soon

Nice bike is that.  I tried bidding on two of those a while back.  Don't tempt me.

That's a very nice bike.........but how could you sell it so quickly? I would need to ride it for a few months before I could sell a bike that I had fixed up. I would have to get a bit of pleasure from it for the time that I had put in.

Here is my docu with useful input from the cx-turbo-freaks for those of you that are interested in these bikes:

Honestly, that is due to an agreemnet with the wife. Too many bikes, too less time for the family.
Promissed, that was the last project (for a while at least...). She hates when parts are everywhere in the house.
Will do some more miles with the cx anyway.

Hopefully, will finish my CB750 sandcast project and sell that too.

Great resto thread on the CX650 turbo Uli and I now know where your forum name comes from !

That German eBay classifieds certainly come up with some good stuff ...thanks for the heads up on it  ..  I got some lovely CX parts off it with zero hassle thanks to you.

Re: the wife ...go to an autojumble to sell some of your parts & take her along with you  ... when she see's in person people exchanging real folding money for what is seemingly the  scrap that you have, she will realise that decent bike parts are really appreciating in value and better than money in the bank. Then cut her in on the profits. I did this with my missus and bought her a new folding pushbike and now her opinion on my 'hobby' has totally changed. She loved the banter at the autojumble ...keeps asking me when we are going again. Maybe it's time to tell her I have 10 Honda's I am keeping & restoring, as she still thinks it stopped at seven !  ;D ;D

Well, I am a bad liar.

I thought, she wont realize that cx: Normally every bike looks the same for her, but in this case even she noticed something is different. And asked me ....

Regarding old scrap: she doesnt like my car. No ABS, no airbag, no power steering ... I gave up and now its here:

It may not stop , steer or go like a modern car but it's got beauty and soul, girls just don't understand that do they 😄 (Apart from the clever ones of course).

Cracking bike, he must be local to me, I've ridden that Via Gellia road more than a few times!, certainly made a nice job of tidying the bike.

Latter bit of that is up near Eastwood, as is the part where he gave it the berries on the turbo. Yes very local, as was the Derbyshire accent!

Great video ULi  and lovely introduction to such an iconic model I had never taken much notice of before. I do remember a supplier  of ours in Rotherham who did prototype plastic moulding saying he had one that he found stored in someone's front room.

Wonder if the guy in the video clip stopped en-route for a 'cob'  ;D   (that's maybe a Rundstück to you Uli) . To myself and 'Orcadian' it would be a 'breadcake'.

This is turning into one of those sconns - scones discussion.
Scone (rhymes with stone) being the correct pronunciation of course.

Yep, and in this case it's YOU! Down here in Devon (where cream teas were invented over 1,000 years ago!) you would be publicly ripped limb from limb for uttering such heresy!

I do like a bit of controversy.  I especially like telling foreigners they drive on the wrong side. :P

That's fair enough, as it's a fact, I love winding complete numpties up, especially the criminally insane ones that like, or worse BUY Italian bikes, then come on a  Honda forum moaning about the problems/unreliability/cost of repairs of their shitalian junk and expect sympathy!!!!

Thanks for the link to my add on that forum, Ash.

That turbo in North GA (no idea where this is, USA?)  is a non-Euro spec bike with silver wheels, black fork legs,non-mirror turbo script, side indicators...
Nice bike nevertheless.

Prices in USA are far lower than here.  As usual.
