Anybody use Wellseal? There seems to be fors and againsts compared to Hylomar on other bike and car forums. I'm sitting on the fence.

If it is getting warm at the ignition switch could it be bad connection onto switch (or faulty switch). Difference in voltage between black and white on regulator sounds like dirty points in regulator. Possibly. Didn't know they made a G3 in '61. I had one a while ago or was it an AJS.

As far as I know, with wires disconnected, all terminals on regulator should be open circuit to earth. Green wire should be connected to earth. Resistance between green and white wires (field coil) should be about 5 ohms. With wires disconnected resistance between black and green terminals on regulator should be about 35ish.

CB350/400 / Re: Brake switch issue..is this possible?

Looks like faulty switch to me. I have had quite a few faulty oil pressure switches for cars (same principle but lower pressure) that leak between plastic centre and outside metal.

Does this mean my back tyre is more likely to skid in the wet when braking than the front? At the moment my back brake seems better than the front and I am sure I can brake quicker than I can accelerate.

Acorn nut tightens washer hard up against shoulder and and slightly squashes rubber but does not touch shock absorber itself.

Bump.  Would someone with original hardware be willing to measure the ID, OD and thickness of the washer on the top shock mount?
Mine are about 10mm ( probably 10.3) ID, 21mm OD and about 1mm thick. OD of stud after threaded bit about 16mm. So I think you need to find some washers say 17mm ID and 21mm OD to take up the space as well as the original size washer to butt up against the shoulder.

On the 400 the light would be off if there was a bad connection, the same on the 500/550, surely. Disconnect wire and see.

Yes. Fitted the one Bryanj recommended with fins on. Checked the regulator as best I could. Seems fine so far but haven't done many miles yet. Doesn't get too hot either.

CB350/400 / Re: Fork oil renewal
« on: August 11, 2020, 06:49:05 PM »
As far as I know, the forks are standard apart from these which I have removed. (yet to try them on the road).
Yes, my bicycle forks have much more adjustment ( variable compression and rebound damping, variable positive and negative air springs and lock out). When I was fit enough to mountain bike they did make a difference. At the speeds I motorbike I won't notice the difference and I have been told the brakes are surplus too!

I found these in the top of the forks. Some sort of preload adjuster I presume. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
