It will oxidize quite quickly if left bare, it would need something i'm sure unless you want to de fluff it every weekend 😭😭

Simoniz VHT, no primer or etch required. If you wanted silver I would suggest SIMVHT31D but I don't know the part number of black off the top of my head.
Edit...SIMVHT20C is black.

Welcome to the forum Jorge. After 20 years of sitting around the bike could require quite a bit of work to get it rideable and more importantly safe. The carbs will definitely need a strip, thorough ultrasonic clean and new rubber 'O'rings and gaskets fitting and setting up correctly. The fuel tank may need a very good clean out, especially if rusty. The tyres will most probably be hard, dry and cracked. The engine may be seized but if not it will require a good service, new spark plugs, oil filter etc etc etc. New air filter. Tappets re set. The engine oil seals may have gone hard and brittle which would cause leaks, if so, to replace some of these requires a total engine strip down. The fork oils seals may need changing. Front and rear brakes overhauled with new pads / shoes. The clutch may be seized. This lot is just for starters......shall i continue. On the other hand you may find she starts up 1st push of the button and no need for any work at all but, i doubt it. Best to do all the work yourself if you can, specialist mechanics in these old Hondas are very rare to find these days. Good luck

160 ml fork oil from completely stripped and rebuilt forks, less if just drained and replaced as there will be residual left in the bottom below the drain plug.

Seals are usually fitted with the writing showing Sye but I will check with Graham later if no one else confirms this.

Is that the same chap that does the mudguards for the early Hondas? If it is, he does the mudguards to your request, single cut, double cut, un chromed etc. Shame he is not more local.

Are you allowed to make noise in the sleepy hamlet of Horncastle Julie
Oh yes, and I do quite often  ;D ;D. Luckily we actually live in an even sleepier hamlet a few miles outside Horncastle and the Natives are mainly old and deaf, so no problems there either  :).

Spent a lot of Time in Roughton so I know what you mean  ;D
Mareham le Fen, where we live, is a City compared to Roughton !!!

Hi - The old remedy for squeaky brakes is to put a light coating of high temperature grease on the metal back of the pad. Copper grease should do the job. Remember kids not on the front.
Yep, I tried that too, made no difference at all.

CB350/400 / Re: cam cover and camshaft seats.
« on: September 22, 2018, 11:57:43 AM »
You will find there is more wear on the cylinder head seats as the cam chain is pulling the cam shaft down and the rockers are pushing it down so wear is expected. You say the ends of the shaft are worn, do you just mean general overall slight signs of wear or deep scores, ruts and ridges. Post a photo if you can.

Here is my camshaft, shows minimal wear but no damage.

And here is the cylinder head, once again, showing minimal wear with no damage.

Always re zinc or powder coat if you can. There is no guarantee that if you source new parts, they will actually be the same as what was originally fitted, especially with parts classed as 'Genuine', which is not the same as 'Original' and then the superseded parts numbers, which have been superseded again...it's a minefield.

Sorry Matron. I did not mean to offend you. In fact I was so upset with myself that I dashed with a decoy bedpan into the sluice room to have a cry.

Ricardo
;D ;D ;D ;D You did not offend me Ricardo. Throughout my Nursing career I had had many titles depending on the job in hand, but whatever to role or job description, I was a Nurse first and foremost.
I was thinking more about the WD40, that would smell horrible on a hot engine !!
Now Dr. stop hugging the bedpan and get back to work  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Dont larf but back in the 70's a doctor told me to wash hands with parrafin when i had dermatitis
Indeed they did advise that back then Bryan and some Eczema and Psoriasis relief creams are still paraffin based today.

CB400/4's are renown for having squeaky front brakes. Some things to check....are the pads glazed, if so, deglaze. Is the floating caliper adjusted correctly giving the correct clearance, if not re adjust. Is the disc warped, if so, get skimmed.
I spent 4 years trying to sort the problem on mine and finally had the disc skimmed which sorted it for about 4 months but it has just started again, albeit intermittently, but that is probably glazed pads this time.
