Title: Crich classic bike show - FEEDBACK
Post by: Rozabikes Tim on July 04, 2017, 11:19:23 PM
Great to meet everyone on Sunday - a good day was had.....

Had an email from the organisers as below to give feedback. Said I would put it out to you guys and revert.
Comments please.

Hi Tim, sorry I didn't have much time to speak yesterday but hope you enjoyed it.
I'm emailing the different groups to get feedback so we can make the event better for next year.
We know what went well but need to know what wasn't so good. We've a good idea of some things that need improving but please be honest and give us your thoughts.
Regards

Hi Tim,

Get better quality show stickers!!

Took me ages to scrape it off my headlight!!

Other than that great organisation, liked the way they grouped clubs together

One member of staff telling you to park here and another member telling you to park over there. A few of them got the sharp side of my tongue  ;D
Staff telling you to keep under 5mph on cobble stones, is a bit tricky as the bikes want to lock in the tram lines.
Other than that is was a good day out and nice to meet up with members that I have met before and member that I have not.

Great day out, well organised overall in my view. Yes, problems with the cobbles and my CB400 did 100 yards with wheels stuck in a tram line but hey, they are not going to remove the tram lines just to accommodate my riding style!!! 😊😊😊

You old boys don't do enough miles, I stuck mine to the flies and the sticker came off no problem with the flies attached 😊 😊 😊

You should post that in the Tips & Tricks section under Bug Splat Removal ;D

You guys must ride with your lights on, my headlamp sticker came straight off and is now stuck on the garage window with all manner of old passes etc. Because my back light is falling to bits inside (another post for another day - I need a new one) I only have a working brake light when the lights are off, otherwise I get both at once. Must sort it before the MOT!

Re 5mph over the cobbles, some bikes are very hard to ride at 5mph, Goldies spring to mind, aren't they geared for around 70mph in first?, plus they have clipons, rearsets and lumpy cams. Most volunteers at a tramway museum won't appreciate that. That 750 Norton race bike I had on the road briefly was very hard to ride sub 30mph for the same reasons, but I never fancied explaining that to a copper.

I thought the organisation worked well on the whole, the guy on the gate needed a table (maybe Julie nicked it, she had one) so he didn't have to spread all the passes etc on the floor to look for mine, lucky it wasn't windy, and the prizegiving didn't happen where and when we were told, if at all. Nothing on their website, I voted for that massive old BSA V twin.

A tip with those stickers is to stick them on your jeans a few times first.  Then they peel off easy like post it notes.

Tell the burger van to buy decent tea bags, and learn how to make tea. Other than that everything was hunky dory and definitely one for next year god willing.  :D

Never had a problem with tram lines. Probably going to fast and just glided over them.  ;D

Sticker wasn't a problem either as my sealed beam blew so is now going binwards

It was the sticker that caused it to blow.  ;D
