Title: Always amazes me that these don't go for more money
Post by: AshimotoK0 on March 02, 2018, 12:44:39 AM
I bought one of these great bikes (B1)  once when my beloved Parakeet Yellow  CB400F2 got nicked from where I worked. You would think they would command a much higher price nowadays. Standard pipes must be one of the most unobtanium parts on the planet though...bet they would go for as much as this sold for!

It's because they have always lived in the shadow of the Z1 and it's derivatives, a very capable and well sorted machine only pitfall is the rubbers in the clutch basket and the starter clutch.

They do fetch 5k plus in restored condition.
Mine is done including mint original exhaust.

i always fancied one of these as a good combination of size and power and better handling than the flagship 900

I bought one as a project because it was cheap, needed more work than I anticipated, neighbour took a shine to it so I moved it on to her and it's now fairly well restored but wasn't a cheap job or quick to do so I'm glad I got out of it with a small profit. Lots of perished rubber compared to what needs doing on my old Hondas of similar vintage, not quite as durable or easy to work on I felt.

;D ;D thanks. The chrome is brighter in real life as it is coated in ACF50 for the winter.

Thats a beauty.
And the "C" is the best looking Z650.

On the German Kawa forum a member just offered a 1983 Z650 for € 500,00.

More or less the same bike (with rear drum) but a cheap basis to make a "Ltd" lookalike?
