hi all, coming to the end of a twelve month rebuild of my 400f. battery installed, electrics seem to be good. in the many boxes that my bike came in are two indicator relays, both appear to be in good nick. one has 3 connectors with the letters L, P, X beside them, the other relay has 2 pins with the letters L, B, the loom has black, green, grey. i presume the 2 pin is self earthing. ok, so what colour goes where? after the trials and tribulations of the last year, a simple question, but its got me beat!
-
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, messages not sending! 2 pin flasher, B is battery, so to the Black live, Grey to the L terminal (load)
-
My three pin relay looks like this, picture not great so from left to right colours are black, grey, green.
-
That's NOT an indicator relay, that's the voltage regulator for the charging system!

+1. It's the voltage reg.
-
And on the voltage regulator, the wire colours correspond with the colours on the sticker, black on left, grey in middle and green on right

Ha. Made me laugh. God knows why I posted the regulator, it's even got a big label attached saying Voltage Regulator. :-[
This pic is the label on the indicator relay. Complete with wiring diagram as my relay has no markings at all.
-
Meant to say the regulator wire is white not grey.
-
Grey is the flasher relay output to the indicator switch.
-
I send this to my pupils that forget to signal.
-
Love it do you have one for people that refuse to use there mirrors?
-
thanks all, just one more question, will i be able to test the indicators from just the battery, or will i need to run the engine which i have'nt fired up yet, not sure how much juice is needed to work the indicators.
-
No need to start the bike to operate the indicators just make sure the ignition is switched on.
Mike, Do BMW fit indicators to their cars, most owners appear to be unaware these are a standard fitment?
-
The controls on BMWs are in braille.

All road user's should know where BMW drivers are going without being warned, especially on roundabouts!
