Title: Plug caps
Post by: jon stead on May 02, 2018, 07:00:13 PM
Bought a set of new plug caps the other day. They’re slightly different to the ones I have already in that #2 and #3 on my bike are straight. The new set has 2 x longer ones and 2 x 120 degree ones. Anybody know which ones go where.

I’ve fitted the longest ones to #1 and #4 and the 120 degree ones to #2 and #3, but not sure if this is correct as the HT lead routing to 2 and 3 seems strange.

That’s how they are on mine.
The longer ones on the outside point backwards with the leads being retained by clips on the breather cover. The two middle ones point forward.

Originally the shorter caps were on #1 and #4, but... often, when HT leads were trimmed, many needed the long ones on #1 and #4 and straight ones on #2 and #3. That's what I have, to accomadate the over time somewhat shortened HT leads.

Ah, makes sense now. Thanks

I have the 2 longs ones on 1 & 4 and instead of the 120 degree ones I used some long completely straight ones.

Yes that’s what I had on originally. I’ve fitted the new ones, as supplied, with the 120 degree ones on #2 and #3, pointing forward.

Originally it was like this on all CB500/550s.
