Title: Electronic ignition and light repair.MOT
Post by: kevski on February 19, 2019, 10:00:14 PM
Added a Dyna-s to the 350f today, makes a lot of difference to start up, repaired a sealed light unit by converting to H4, got a new unit on order though, and put a tail tidy on my Z Thou [attachimg=1] [attachimg=2] [attachimg=3]
Would have MOT'd it last Saturday but for the light, so took it today and she passed the light set up and aim was perfect, i will still MOT my bikes even though they don't need to be , will still change it when new unit arrives though.

That's 2 mods that have improved my bike too;  the Dyna S and the H4.

Tip. Use some threadlock on the securing screws on the Dyna sensors.  One of mine came loose and I lost half of my sparks. Use some more heatsink  compound if you have some.

those are worthwhile mods, the head light is easy if you find an auto electrical specialist,
they will have the light units and bulbs and sockets at trade prices .

just remember to ride quicker, as you need to keep the engine spinning to charge the battery !!!!!

Will be going back to right headlight when it gets here, i also have a electrex world reg/rec which has improved charging, old units weren't charging properly.

Dyna-S made a big difference on both my GS1000HC and CB750F2. Can't really understand why people stick with points, or do they still have a black and white TV with vacuum tubes? Especially with the points that are available (Daichi) they are rubbish.

I believe the points and condensers are original, Nippon Denso's, bike still only less than 5.5k on the clock.

Maybe its about trying to keep them as original as possible or is it ok to bin something because you can't see it.

For me it's personal choice, i keep the original parts in case the next owner wants to return it to original spec.

I do exactly the same thing as you Kev. Personally I prefer the starting and running improvements plus the no maintenance bonus over the originality. I doubt it would sell for less because it has electronic ignition fitted and came with the standard parts. Maybe I wouldn't fit it to a nut and bolt perfect Sandcast, but it's a 750F2 that gets used daily in the summer.
