Hi all
Does anyone know why my revs are rising to 3K when at idle & then if i bip the throttle it calms down again. It can be a bit sporadic when doing this .
Thanks in advance , Dave

Possibly a high float level or flooding in one or more carbs, the surplus fuel is then sucked into the engine sending the revs mental.
My CL450 was suffering similar nonsense but has stopped since I dropped the float levels.

Many thx for that , im pretty sure its a carb / fuel issue but just need to be pointed in the right direction. ;D

Could also be an air leak somewhere Dave and also check you have non resisted plugs fitted with resisted plug caps.
-
Have checked for air leaks Julie no rising when sprayed around carb boots , plugs are all non Res , the caps are just plain black with no logo so possible could be original given the low miles of bike , ive just had carbs off but they and are a set of Gerbens carbs so are very clean and jets all correct etc, it could just be they want adjusting etc which means im in hell doing that :-[

Does it slow down if you twist the throttle away from you(i.e. the wrong way?)
-
Yes Bryan it does

Sounds more like a cable routing or sticking throttle issue tbh... I always thought that exess fuel i.e. rich would lower the revs and a lack of fuel i.e. lean would raise them....?

Then its down to mechanism, cables or bench sync mate.

Cheers Bryan ;D
