Misc / Open / The missus wants some space
« on: June 30, 2019, 04:48:11 PM »
Hi guys not been on in a while. Unfortunately I am forced to sell my pride and joys due to the wife saying she wants some space. Unfortunately irreconcilable now. Currently living in mum and dad's conservatory in Heald Green. Anyways my xt600 dt175mx and cb750 k8 are all planted on ebay at the moment as I don't have the room. Am OK. Gutted  to list them but need to downsize. Many thanks for all your help.  A guy called Tell will be along shortly with questions as he's bought my K8 off ebay and is a nice chap and have recommended he joins this forum. He likes his honda XL's XJ's BTW. Regards Simon

CB750 / Just fired up my us k8
« on: April 26, 2019, 06:46:22 PM »
Missus at work so went into manshed. k8 not been fired for a couple of months as I was concentrating on my 1980s golf gti 87 XT600 and 78 dt175mx. Fuel tap on.,choke pulled and fired into life immediately 6 mins to settle down idling on warmup. You can't make a more harmonious noise of 4 cylinders working in unison. I believe the 22000 miles is real now. No crazing on clocks spoke nipples still zinc coated. OK its no k0 but cheap classic motorcycycling. I now smell of piston crown carbon. Just saying I like it

CB750 / Took my USA K8 out on Sunday
« on: February 25, 2019, 08:30:49 PM »
Dusted the cobwebs off after winter and brought him out the garage. Did some checks pulled sidecovers off and the tabs broke off in the grommets. Aargh. Attempted to glue and wasn't successful. Anyway gaffa tape and cable ties got them temp secured for the trip. Started up took a few mins to warm up then off I trotted after a quick wash in the sunshine. Back brake is really squealy and sharp after a wash! Bike is probably used to route 66 in America but the nearest I could find near me is the new handforth bypass near Manchester Airport. Fresh shell Bramhall vpower petrol can't believe how much that tank holds. Loved the comfy ride after pulling my 1980s xt600 kickstart only thumper and my 1970s dt175mx stroker out the day before. One has to go but every time I ride one it has to stay. I know its no k0 but it gets his appreciation from other bikers. Here he is

CB750 / Warm up time
« on: October 28, 2018, 09:45:29 AM »
My 78 k8 takes about 6 mins to settle itself down before its rideable.is that normal? The idle speed has to be lowered as its idling at 2500 rpm when it's hot. Any ideas?

Really struggling to get my USA import on centre stand. Is it cause my rear wheel is smaller? Maybe I'm a weakling  ;D

CB750 / Gauze in idle jet?
« on: May 18, 2018, 10:51:27 PM »
Finally had to pull carbs on my 78 as it will only run on choke and no idle. Pulled slow/ idle jets from carbs all blocked. Boiled, vinegar, lemon juice syringed now blow thru. Found a gauze filter in one of them. Not checked other 3. Is this normal?
