Hi
I had my renewal notice come last week. £280 for a multi bike policy to insure the following.
1976 CB550 worth about 4.5k
2005 DRZ400 worth 3k
I am 53. Clean licence, no accidents for 15 years, couple of years no claims, bikes kept in a locked garage. Fairly good post code. Seems a lot to me as I am sure that people on here have had quotes for £ 70/80 for their Hondas?

Can't post a link but there's a tidy k6 on car and classic. 15000 miles for £3900. I am no expert but looks very nice for the money.

I have just been reminded by the govt that my tax expires at the end of the month. Am going to sorn it anyway as it won't be used again until spring. Now the bike was declared manufactured in 76 so how and when will the 40 year old rule kick in and does it happen automatically or do you have to send proof of date of manufacture?

After getting off my street triple and straight on the 550 it really brought it home how poor the front brake is on the Honda. Are they meant to be this bad? Or could mine be not as effective as it should be? I would say the rear brake has almost as much stopping power and that it would probably be impossible to lock the front on anything but a wet greasy surface. Am sure the front disc on my rd250 was much better back in the day,admittedly the yamaha was a good bit lighter. As far as I know the pads are quite new and the travel at the lever feels fine.

Hi.
My recently refurbished speedo suddenly developed an area of condensation on the inside of glass /perspex while out riding. By the time I had got home it had evaporated away but the needle had at certain speeds begun to bounce a little. Does the damper contain a fluid which would have caused this had it leaked?

Hi. Have got a problem with my 550. It starts and runs perfectly except for a flat spot which only shows itself if you try to sit at half throttle after rolling off from around three quarters to flat out. It accelerates through the gears fine and will run ok on a half throttle as long as you haven't rolled off first. It's a K2 with standard exhausts and as far as I know correct jet sizes and float heights. It's not a massive issue just slightly irritating and would be reluctant to start messing with it without a fairly good idea what the cause is.

Anyone fitted a quick action twist grip? I find that I'm having to take two grabs to get from idle to full throttle.not a major problem just mildly irritating.
