I was rear ended on my guzzi last year and I have had nothing but back and shoulder issues since.
You may think your fine now but it catches up with you all of a sudden. I had no one to claim against as they speed off.
Claim for what you can and as it was rear ended don't forget to have your rear wheel rebuilt and new bearings and check your swingarm.

Can I ask what do you do with the riveted on vin plate when you paint / powder coat?

It must be almost impossible to remove without marking the plate.

I'm advised that if you carefully drill out the rivet head then use cheese wire or similar to break any remaining adhesion between plate & frame they come off okay.

I'll just mask mine off if I paint the frame myself - this is my most likely plan - just need to check I can get Hamerite Smooth or Rust Oleum in my chosen shade of dark blue.

Would you like to be a Guinea pig for me. I use Tikkurila products for everything now but havn't had a chance to try there Temalac FD yet they do it in FD50 (semi gloss) and FD 80 (gloss)  I think its just under £35 for 3lt

That's my next job: fitting a relay.  I left the darn things on all day at work.  There's me trying to push start it when a work mate gave me a shove.  Good man.

Been there done that to many times. Now I always wire in an extra fusebox and relay
I like these as they look factory and blend in well

I wish Guzzi new what superseal connectors were as they face far to many molex plugs in to the wind and rain.

I didn't want to be the one to point it out so thanks Paul for confirming it.

I should think you could carefully sand the paint off. But scratching the steel might promote rust.

My year started with a head on in the van then suspected Covid then being shunted across a roundabout when on the Guzzi. Not been able to ride much since.
I'v been lucky though as I'v worked most of the time so can't complain.

Fingers crossed next year will be better for all.

Looks great.
But shouldn't the filler neck be left bare on the top edge to prevent lifting.

A rattle gun has become a must with modern bikes to get the front sprockets off.
All of my battery tools are 18v Makita as I think there balanced better then Dewalt and most other makes.
Don't dismiss the tidler 1/4 drives there handy little things as they can get into tight spaces.

My brothers 1/2'' drive Snap On will spin the car round and round untill the head shears off if bolts are rusted solid.  ;D

I have the same Schuberth C4 and I find it puts a fair bit of pressure on my forehead and ears and takes awile to get used too.
The buckle pisses me of more then anything as I almost always pinch my chin in it.
I find I tend to get itchy shins when I first put my boots on.

« on: December 07, 2020, 05:18:22 PM »
I have very mixed views on cameras
I had a dash cam in my van when I was hit head on in January it made no difference to my defence even though they were on my side of the road.   :o  it was settled 50/50 because apparenty  I just agreed to go 50/50 in March when recovering from Covid. I don't even remember the phone call. But they played the recording of me talking jiberish I couldn't even remember how to spell my name on the recording.
Way back in May someone shunted me on the Guzzi and fled. A camera would have been nice if rear facing as I had no one to claim against.
Ithought I was fine but I have been in agony for months since and really struggle to get through the day and struggle to sleep at night.

« on: December 05, 2020, 09:57:16 PM »
I will carry on with out an MOT on my classics.
Its not hard to check things over on the bench once a year.
A classic car I think I would have checked as its harder to get underneath to check things over.

I took my Aprilia for its test last year and he picked up on a small amount of play in the rear shock linkage.
I have striped the rear end recently and found no play in the back end at all.New bearings seals and shock has now gone in with half a tin of fresh grease in everything so if it gets picked up again there is something fishy going on.

I checked my Transit tipper over just before its test recently everything was working great as the tester drove it up the ramp all the rear lights went out on one side. A quik wiggle of the loom all was back before the ramp had finished rising.

I'm quite capable of doing that without a computer controled car.

Haha, nice to hear you are giving one of your bikes some love young Mick 😊😊😊

Work has stopped a bit suddenly so before I get paranoid about the lack of money coming in I thought I would spend some much needed time and money getting the bikes tidy again.
Next will be the 550's strange misfire issue.
