Tricks & Tips / Re: My new helping hand...
« on: July 23, 2020, 09:41:25 PM »
Blimy you could almost lift a Guzzi with that

I prefer a different approch with my Guzzi. It gives you a hernia so it sits on the bench for a week before you touch it again.
For some reson my garage has a ramp in front of the door.
So I take a run up from the start of the drive up the ramp.
Just as the rear wheel hits the ramp to the garage the front wheel hits another ramp for the bench. So the bike clibs 2 feet in about half the bikes length. Not easy as the handle bars end up about ear hight.
The good thing with the Guzzi is it has a flat sump pan so easy to jack up with a car jack.

« on: June 27, 2020, 07:34:54 PM »
As a decorator I hate red, orange and yellows as they are highly translusant. If its a solid colour I would use a primmer in the same colour.
I have just done a bright orange bathroom for someone and it took 5 coats to look OK.

I ordered the lifter plate from Goodbits on the 5th June and it arrived on the 8th so great service.
I have finally got around to fitting it today after work. I would go out on it to test my new clutch but I'v hurt my shoulder and can't twist the throttle  :'(

Its amazing what you can carry when you have too.
I used to carry all my chippy tools on a Suzuki GS125 I used to travel from Colchester to Walthamstow everyday. I couldn't go over 25mph as the front end would shake violently and then lift.
I upgraded to my Aprilia Pegaso at 18 and that gets loaded like an old donkey to this day.
I broke the rear subframe and blew the rear shock carrying 25kg of nails, 110v transformer, chopsaw and Ali hopup all in one trip.
I didn't lern my lesson as a few years later I did it again carrying my dad two hopups, two tups of ready mixed paste and tools

Misc / Open / Re: Motorcycle Sat Nav - Does Anyone use one?
« on: June 04, 2020, 09:58:18 PM »
I made do with notes taped to the tank for years.
Then started using a Garmin car sat nav in a waterproof phone case. It was a bit hit and miss everytime I went around a roundabout the screen would flip and it would get confused.
My Guzzi had the provission for a TomTom so I tracked down the mount and sat nav to go with it. Its old but works well and only cost £50 on ebay  :)

When it is 100% not your fault state on your claim form  no claim to be made against your insurance.

I would have thought footage would have been clear enough it wasn't my fault.
Thinking about it now I havn't been sent any paperwork at all. The only thing I signed was for a hire van.

I'm sitting at home today as I loaded the trailer this morning and my back went pop.

JT sprockets and D.I.D chains are the way to go.
JT chains last an age but the master links tend to be hard to rivet. Don't think you can get a standard one though.
Standard Swift chains lasted about 2000miles on the 550 before stretching so now has a D.I.D
I have an O ring D.I.D on the 750 and thats done about 8000miles and never been adjusted

Years ago I was invoved in a head on collision due to a car driving towards me on the wrong side of the road. I was doing less then 10mph as I was about to pull up.It bent my Transit like a bannana. It was finally settled and went 50/50
. When I complained and demanded a resson for it going 50/50 I was told it was because I was only Third party so would have no chance of wining.  :o
After that I have always gone full comp.
Last December I walked up to my van to find the rear doors were stoved in. Obviously no one left details so no one to claim against. So now another £500 out of pocket. Late January I was hit head on again because a BMW refused to giveway or even slow down. Again I was almost at a stop It was captured on film and a witness agreed it was all down to the third party not stopping.
It wasn;t just a tap on the nose I went without the van for a month as it needed a hole new front end it even bent the subframe.
Yesterday I had a phone call its been settled 50/50.
When I complained this time I got no response the person on the other end just went silent for a second and then carried on reading from his script.
I still see her driving around and she still refuses to give way and bullies other road users out of the way.
On the 18th this month I was punted across a roundabout when on the bike. Again no one to claim against.
I used the car for work today as I can't take riding the bike any longer every bump or ripple in the road is agony.I get home today to find someone has run into the back of my van again and again no details left.

Am I the only one that is honnest if I catch another car? Not that I have as I have eyes in the front of my head.

Rant over

I to have a Schubeth C3 nice lid but it does tend to put pressure on my ears if worn all day.
I use mine all year round and tend to bin them when they loosen up or just look crappy inside.
When I used to commute daily on the bike they used to be kept on muddy building sites and covered in crap the straps would rot out fairly quikly.

That looks like a 750 tank to me.
Wasn't the tap on the 500T on the left and the tank had a slight indent for your knees and looks a bit more bulbous

I think the additives change the viscosity and thats why there quieter.
If the oil is in good condition you wont get metal to metal contact.
