Tricks & Tips / Replacement for CB550 oil sensor
« on: July 18, 2014, 07:55:48 AM »
For all the CB550 owners i have good news.
If your oil sensor is leaking you can replace it with one from a CBR 954 or CBR 929. Is almost the same thing.

I have replaced mine an is working fine for now.

He did say that they were switched Trig.

Position 1 = normal
Position 2 = backup electronic
Position 3 = fallback points
Position 4 = call recovery services.

yes thats true! ther are a few position.
position 1-electronic
position 2-points
betwen them there is a position that cancel the ignition, like neutral..i think is a antitheft measure :))

For the backup, i must conect some wires but its got also switches that works in the same order ( pos 1 and 2, and the neutral). It is independent pron the main electonic ignition.

22
As soon i take the point cover off i will take some pictures. I am curious too how this thing works :))
Even the previos owner forgot what was the corect position for of or on between the points and electonic. ( He didn't used anymore for 4 years an he's got 70 years :)
So now i am not sure if a am on points or on electronic!

What is the box next to the horn?

The previous owner is a..., i dont now how to translate ”inginer electronist” (something like electric engineer).
He made 2 electonic ignition (hand made)...one is the main ignition, and one is a backup :))
He also keept the points plate. So..when you want to use the eletronic ignition just turn on a switch, when you want to use the points turn of the switch.
Also..if the main ignition fails and also the point fails, you could plug on the backup ignition..pretty cool, no?

more pics you can find on our local bike forum: http://www.motociclism.ro/forum/index.php?/topic/661157-clasice-made-in-japan/?p=3757595

Looks nice Mihai. Never seen one with reflectors on the fork cases before.
What is the box next to the horn?

Some of the reflectors are from the previous owner...the strips from the fork and from the bottom of the fork. Also the rear round stop reflector...

Welcome Mihai, know your country very well. Ex- wife from Oradea. I lived just south of Saloniki for 8 years and have many friends in eastern Europe.

Hi Mihai and welcome to the forum is that the bike your hoping to buy?, it looks nice and original  ;) cheers Mick.
Yes this is the one. i only got 2 photos but i will get more after i buy it.
The bike is owned by a 67 years guy who all his life was a bike enthusiast but he never got a japanesse bike, only MZ, IJ, URAL, and other like those.
He said that is he`s last bike...and is very fond of it, but considering the age he need to sell it to a person who really wants to take care of her ( the bike:))
The price is a little high but he is selling it with the same money that he bought it.
