CB750 / CMS problems
« on: April 16, 2021, 05:36:55 PM »

Nice day today so thought i would go for a ten mile ride on the K1, after warming the bike up for a couple of minutes i set off, got about 100 yards down the road when there was a horrific rattle  coming from the exhaust, got back home and discovered that on number two silencer the inner baffle had come loose. This exhaust system was bought about 30 months ago from CMS, in that time it has only done 500 miles.

Tried to contact CMS by telephone (031 (0) 320 265120) to see if they could help, but the number was not recognised, does anyone know the correct number, also if they can't or will not help, is there something i can do to stop the rattle ?

Humour / It's Gotta Hurt

A Winchester woman driving along at speed passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, with that classic patronizing smirk & asked, 'What's your hurry?'
She replied, 'I'm late for work.'
'Oh yeah,' said the cop, 'what do you do?'
'I'm a Rectum Stretcher,' she responded.
The cop stammered, 'A what?............
'A Rectum Stretcher!'
'And just what does a rectum stretcher do?'
'Well,' she said, 'I start by inserting one finger in the rectum, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch it, until it's about 6 feet'
'And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot arsehole?' he asked
'You give him a radar gun & park him behind a bridge..

Humour / If Only

Donald Trum$ and his driver were cruising along a country road one night when all of a sudden, they hit a pig. Trum$ told his driver to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what had happened. An hour later, Trum$ sees his driver staggering back to the car with a bottle of wine in one hand, a cigar in the other.

“What happened to you?” asked Trum$

“Well, the Farmer gave me the wine and his wife gave me the cigar.”

“My God, what did you tell them?” asks Trum$.

The driver replies, “I’m Donald Trum$’s driver, and I just hit the pig.”

CB750 / Best Rims
« on: August 01, 2019, 01:59:20 PM »
The chrome on the rear wheel rim of my 750 K1 has worn down to dull metal, i guess through enthusiastic polishing over 50 years. What is the best new rim and stainless spokes to buy, or should i rechrome the original DID rim?

CB750 / Oil Pressure Switch
« on: July 29, 2019, 04:33:02 PM »
Your input would be appreciated with my problem. Before starting my 750 K1 from cold, the oil light is not illuminating, but when it is warmed up after a run the light works normally, i.e. switch the engine off with the kill switch and the light comes on, start it up again and the light goes out immediately. With the engine cold and ignition on, i can take the cable off the pressure switch and touch it to earth and the light will illuminate, so it looks like the switch is faulty.
My question is can the switch be dissmantled and fixed, at the moment finances are a bit tight.

I love this video of a better time, this is how i had to ride during my motorcycle test in 1964, no indicators on bikes back then (unless you rode a Ariel Leader or Honda Benly) and no traffic, no traffic camera's, no yellow lines, truly a golden time, wish i had a time machine!

How about this for a simple method to get your engine back in the frame on your own !! I expect you could get it out the same way.

« on: November 18, 2018, 10:14:05 PM »
Does this guy know what he's talking about, in a few years a sandcast will be worth a quarter of a million pounds, blimey!!, so on a pro rata basis my K1 will be worth up to a 100 grand, i didn't know that they are fragile,   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA3FFe-lSsw.

CB750 / Bouncy Forks
« on: August 21, 2018, 05:14:32 PM »
I've no doubt that this has been asked many times before, so i apologize in advance for asking. My 71 K1 750 has a horrible ride on the front end, the forks follow every large or small undulations in the road, only hitting a pothole do i get any fork action.
When moving the forks up and down on standstill they seem to work fine, it's putting me off going out for a ride. :'( :'(

CB750 / Oil at Tappet Covers
« on: August 03, 2018, 12:35:57 PM »
The last time i had a cb750 was back in 1976 with a new K6, with a new bike i didn't worry about things like, is the oil circulating correctly, are the oil jets clear, but on reading some of the posts on this forum, it's now got me thinking about my bike, a 1971 K1 with 14000 miles on the clock, judging by the unrestored condition of the bike it could be genuine.
So this morning i took the front tappet covers off and started the bike from cold, it took a couple of minutes for oil to appear, i was expecting oil immediately, is this normal ?
