Title: 750k1 headlight switch.

Is it me. Or is the headlight switch on the 750 k1. Dangerous?
Is there an alternative?

Why dangerous? 12 volts and say 4 amps?

Yes. It is such a bad design.
I thought if trying to fit some F1 switches I have. But they are completely different.

There is a circular switch that you fit on the LH handlebar that turns the lights on/off to overide the R/H switch off part.
I will look up the part number and post it for you.

EDIT Part number  35150-300-730 but it aint cheap and you dont even get the screw

Hello Bryan.
Thank you for your help. It looks like the way to go. The switch as it is rather negates any confidence gained from my new LED H4 bulb.
Which I strongly recommend. As for "not being cheap"  nothing is.
Especially regarding Cb750's

My CD175 had the same problem, the switch was well worn so it was easy to slide too far and switch the light off completely, a little frightening to a 17 year old me, until I realised the 6 volt headlight was that dim I could leave it on dipped and get the same illumination.

That reminds me. I really should get on with converting my sloper to 12v.
Why any manufacturers fitted 6v. Is totally beyond mem

It was originaly only fitted in some markets but we heard about it in the mid 70's and started ordering and fitting them, as it was a genuine Honda part it didnt harm any warrantee

If this is about the P position between the L and H, then the easiest way is to fit the RHS for the US models. I think the US had a sealed beam with no pilot light, so if you can do without it this will do. There are plenty around including repros. (. L H) (35300-300-671P/35300-323-671 and others). If you want to retain P then you really need a P L H  RHS switch and the switch that Bryan mentions. The switch you have with the central P is rarer and worth £££ in good condition. (also fitted to early 500s into Europe)

The switch on my bike has 3 position's off, dip, main. On the R/h side.
Which means it too easy to switch the lights off completely. When only trying to dip. Which does nothing for  relaxed night time ride out.
