Title: 1978 CB750 enquiry

I have been offered a 1978 CB750 at a reasonable cost, i quite fancy reliving my youth and rebuilding this over the winter, but i have a couple of questions, its a rubbish red and i reckon that year they wereCandy Red or Black, can anybody confirm this? ALso it has a Honda chrome badge in the middle between the front indicators and the Heads and Barrell's are black in colour when i thought they should be the natural alloy colour, would this be an import? how does one check its not?

Its the one in the picture to the left if anybody has any idea it looks ok.

Thanks and i am sure i will have more questions should i purchase it.

The American F2 had a black engine, but the exhaust was on he RHS. If you decide to go ahead the Clymer workshop manual CB750 (1969-1978) from DSS has a stunning front cover colour picture of the American F2

I had a CB900FZ and found the DOHC forums virtually useless...

It's just the old 550 /4 I had in 76 looked different, maybe my knowledge on this stuff is blurred by beer and wine.

Is it a "desirable" one to rebuild correctly (to keep not sell) or would I be better to wait for an earlier one?

Note the silver engine and chrome front mudguard. I'm sure there are loads of other differences as well.
