Title: Decent Audible warning Device for my 500 ?
Post by: McCabe-Thiele (Ted) on February 20, 2023, 05:47:19 PM
The brand new looking none original horn on my 500 just clicks and no amount of careful adjustment of the screw well do anything - no vibrating just a not very loud single click.

Not prepared to pay daft money for a replica or a 50 year old rusted original.

Is there a horn from another Honda Model that would look the part with the slightly bling chrome look even if its plastic.
Links to a suitable alternative welcome.

You'll have to give them a waft with some aerosol as ones orange and ones red. I say, sent in error.

I like the sound of Red (like a Monkeys butt) the main question is will it do more than click so a test is essential - thanks Roo!

They respond well to bell but you have to press the button at the same time one of these but Ted Ted, ignore yellow tape, that’s to remind me to earth it!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230220/e2400666400ce79ec952ff773a3f2593.jpg)

400/4 horn but principle the same in link below. Sounds good news if you get a click. Most are open circuit because they get a non-conductive film forming on the contacts. If you can't get the thing to work on the M4 screw then the adjust the large central 'pole-piece' one with ultra fine thead. Anybody remember when 'Fiamms' were the aftermarket accessory for the 400/4 along with a 'Cibie' headlamp.  :)

I had Fiamm air horns on my 500 (avatar)

The compressor was the size of a pint beer mug and heavier.

They were loud but there was a definite time lag between pressing the button and the noise arriving.

Let’s face it, how often do you need a loud horn.

My dad always said “if you’ve got time to press the horn button, you’ve got time to take avoiding action.”

They were FIAMM electromechanical horns, I believe. Had some on an old bike, they also made air horns.
