Wow! What a great job, never even charged carriage for return, I am well chuffed. Thanks for the recommendation.

CB750 / Uk registration.
« on: February 11, 2021, 08:40:28 PM »
Weh heh! That was a drawn out process well done DVLA for taking so many weeks to register my bike. At least she was registered as an historic vehicle and I didn’t have to apply separately. So taxed and ready to go, pity it’s in hundreds of pieces (or is it thousands of pieces) at the moment. Anybody know how many pieces to make a CB750K?

CB750 / Dyna S electronics

Anybody have experience with this type of ignition. The question I have is it compatible with standard coils? The bike came with it fitted but apart from a garage run I never had the bike out on the road.

CB750 / Crankcase disaster.
« on: January 23, 2021, 02:34:21 PM »
I had a nice simple job to do this afternoon, splitting the 750 crankcases. By the time I cleaned the lairs of chain grease from the back of the engine I got a dirty drop, this bike has suffered at some time from a broken drive chain.
It’s going to be fun trying to take these apart!

CB750 / Bent steering tube.

Apparently I have a bent steering tube. Never even noticed, but the guy at the powder coaters did. Is it viable to try and straighten or should I replace?

CB750 / CB750 tear down.
« on: January 11, 2021, 08:34:27 PM »
Rebuilt the rear wheel new bearings, rim, spokes and tyre to put on the road this year. Too much oil leaks etc to run so tear down was the only option.
Tidy up time I think!

CB750 / Old coils.
« on: December 05, 2020, 09:59:31 PM »
Here’s a serious dilemma! Is it worth refurbishing old coils? By the time I have sourced new ht cable, protective sheaths, numbers, epoxy resin etc, I am still going to end up with 47 year old coils. So the question is any advantage in repairing compared to replacing with new.

CB750 / CB750K3 Engine in need of work.
« on: November 26, 2020, 11:58:58 AM »
The lump is out! Not looking forward to installing it without marking paintwork on frame. Never mind a lot to do before then. No strip down until New year. Broken lug for mounting sprocket cover, not a massive problem. Engine ran fine noisy but had stuck cam chain tensioner. Think it will be total strip down to replace all seals cam chain etc. And anything else that rears it’s broken or worn head.

CB750 / Dry sump!
« on: November 22, 2020, 11:43:37 AM »
What controls the amount of oil in the sump of the 750? I drained oil and refilled tank, started up ran for a short while and the oil disappeared completely off the dip stick. Topped the oil up again. Since drained the sump again just to see amount of oil, and took 2 litres of oil out. Is this normal?

CB750 / How many colours?

This is going to take a bit of work! Nice to see original colour and markings underneath the layers.

CB750 / Intake Rubber?
« on: October 27, 2020, 08:12:03 AM »
I think this one morphed into something far harder than rubber. Had to take the hacksaw to this one to remove too hard for knife!

CB750 / Now, how did that get in there?
« on: October 25, 2020, 08:02:21 PM »
I’m not convinced that found its way in there when I removed generator and cover.

CB750 / On going electrical issue.
« on: October 24, 2020, 03:06:31 PM »
Here’s my dilemma, I have removed wiring harness removed all covering and inspected tested and repaired one or two connections. With harness now back on bike and all connected again I still have the same issue regarding heating of switched black wire and fuse glowing when ignition is on. If anything it is worse after my intervention. The only thing is I’m quite sure the problem is not with the harness. With the black wire disconnected from voltage regulator all is fine. When I test between live spade connector on regulator and frame I get open circuit. So am I being stupid or is there a problem there because to connect live wire to regulator is like putting a live wire to frame or earth. Wish I had another regulator to try on bike. Help!

CB750 / Fork stantions
« on: October 16, 2020, 06:08:22 PM »
This one does not look good, about 2/3rds water to 1 third black smelly gunge. And only about couple of egg cup fills.
