I happened to be having a conversation with a fellow biker a couple of months ago and told him about my latest purchase of the 550. He then asked if I wanted another? I asked how much he wanted for it and he said same price as he had paid for it! £0. Apparently he saved it going in the skip. Fast forward 4 years and he had decided a while ago that he wasn’t going to do anything with it. I’m not so sure if he should have saved it going in the skip in the first place.😂😂 However I picked it up today and I’ll see if I can get it running, take it from there.

I had one of these fail today surprisingly. After discovering there was no offside rear indicator today I checked the obvious, the bulb which appeared to be fine gave it a wiggle as you do, nothing! Checked connections under seat then with multimeter checked for power at bulb socket which showed power supply ok. Soon became apparent that there was no earth to light. The culprit was the earth/bracket mount (thingy). A few taps with the hammer on the rivet and it now shows good connection. I will remove rivet at some point to clean connection before riveting again.

After servicing the front Caliper and fitting new seal and pads, I couldn’t get the required clearance between the rear Caliper pad and disc. Backed the adjuster screw right out and still gripping the disc, making it difficult to move about in garage. I could see no option but to make and fit a shim between rear pad holder and brake Caliper arm. That fixed it now have the required clearance. Anybody had this problem before with pads?

Anybody on here got a bike or parts in Candy Jade Green. I am steering towards this colour. Although my initial preference was Freedom green metallic. Just trying to stick with age and model appropriate colours.

Hi all, just by chance does anyone have a left side cover, will purchase a repro one if not. In the process of repairing right side one at the minute so might need two, but hoping it will be OK. Also anyone on here bought a repro one?

Picked up from local removal firm yesterday who collected it from Brighton. Nothing much to say as annoyingly not had much time in garage. Told from the seller that starter button wasn’t working but when I tried it I could see the idiot lights dimming a little, so a couple of taps with the screwdriver handle and she is turning over every push of button. Front and rear mudguards look serviceable as do the headlamp ears. Tank looks pretty good in the inside (better than the outside 😂) Would appear to have a full tool kit with it (does anybody think I need a new tool bag?) weird looking key which appears to fit all three locks (well fits the fuel cap as well but I think that is not surprising) but I must seek out a spare as doesn’t look that strong. Looking forward to further discoveries. 🤪

Just curious to know where people source their oil filters from. Just so I can avoid the unscrupulous suppliers. Talking 550/750 in particular.

Ok here’s one for engineers and mechanics of which I am neither. I have had a bit of niggling doubt about the oil pump on my 550. So have had a gauge fitted to the oil gallery plug underneath the points cover and have done an initial low revs check at idle to 2500rpm. So far I have had 40psi at idle and 60psi at 2500rpm. With nothing to compare against, and the general question asked on mr Google, coming back with a very vague answer, any guidance would be much appreciated.
