CB350/400 / CB400F Gearbox
« on: January 21, 2015, 03:08:37 PM »
Afternoon Gents,

I'm in the middle of doing a full rebuild on my bike and I've made it to the transmission.

Observe the image attached. where do I go from here? Found a replacement from CSML for +£150 but I'm hoping I wouldn't have to buy new ones. These seem to be the only 2 gears affected

Does anyone have any information on the grade/material these gears are made from? I assume case hardened?

I've only taken the pump off at the moment, so I'm going to expect some damage there given the wear I'm seeing here

Thanks, Ryan.

CB350/400 / 400/4 low oil pressure + Other Misc problems
« on: June 21, 2014, 04:32:04 PM »
Good afternoon  gents,

I've spent some time cleaning the clutch up on my 400f (it was full of shit and rust) and replaced the plates. However upon reassembly I have two problems:

Problem 1: the kick start lever doesn't seem to return after being depressed, I've checked around the area and cant see anything suspicious. So any ideas on that?

Problem 2: after reassembly the oil pressure light doesn't seem to be going out. It took a while for it to go out when I changed the filter before I dod the clutch but I cant really remembe how long this took, it doesnt seem to go out now though. So how long does the engine normally take to gain oil pressure after oil/flter changes and where am I going to start looking for problems? Could the oil pump be bollocks, could there be shit in an oil way? If so where would this most likely be?

I'm going back tomorrow to look at it again so if you guys could give me some ammo to work with, that would be great!

Misc / Open / Travel/Misc Stories
« on: June 17, 2014, 07:43:32 PM »
I haven't found many posts regarding trips, days out, stories etc on the forum so far (Perhaps i'm not looking hard enough... Often happens when I look for the milk and assume we're out because I haven't lent over those few extra inches :o).

Just wondered if anyone here had any cool stories about travelling on their bikes or just experiences in general? Humorous, Total Mares or just plain old good'uns?  ;D

Example: There are quite a few great/funny reads over here: http://yewemmgee.blogspot.co.uk/ It's always worth a read when I'm on lunch break!

Sharing is caring!

Good Afternoon Gents,

My Names Ryan, 22, Hampshire, Currently riding a Varadero 125 '04 (Couple of scuffs up the side ;) from my first year on two wheels and 10k miles so far) and in the process of upgrading to a CB400F (Once I replace the clutch and it gets through the MOT) Not sure of the Model but it has the footrests on the frame and not the swing arm so I believe it's one of the later ones. Sounds Lovely, that's all that matters. I'll have a look at uploading pictures later of both bikes.

_I'm a COMPLETE beginner with regards to mechanics and electrical_

Glad to see such huge support for these motors which will in no doubt be of great help in the near future! Looking forward to it.

(Hopefully) To a long and great future of riding, Cheers.
