Yes by all accounts a very good home and a very good price too. The new owner's dad already has a lovely silver CB350F so he was a real 350 enthusiast. Just the type of person I wanted it to go to.

Here's a last pic of me with the 350, and the new owner riding it away.

It's a difficult bike to value as of course it depends who's interested. I don't really wish to disclose the reserve but just to say I've set it a bit below the agreed valuation value that I have on my insurance policy and hopefully it's not an unrealistic figure. I intend to just let the auction run, if it doesn't meet the reserve then I'd rather just store it for another few years than sell for a price I'd regret.

It's been interesting that in less than 12 hours from the start of the 10 day auction it's been bid on that much, I wasn't really expecting that, but I guess it shows interest and I suppose it's not often one of these bikes come up - particularly not one with the known history etc and in the condition that this one is. I suspect there won't be many more bids now until the end of the auction though as is usually the way.

I've decided after 10 years that the time has come for someone more enthusiastic and time-available to look after this stunning little machine.

I've not ridden one of them but the people I know who have them (I know quite a few now) love them. You just don't have to worry about losing the front end on things like manhole covers, wet leaves, diesel etc anymore. A pretty impressive piece of engineering!

One of them went on the Londonbikers trackday on the Fuoco 500. Although he had no chance on the straights (it's only 500cc and very heavy with it) he was finding that he could leave the braking waaay later and corner faster than most others - at least in the Newbie category!

(p.s. nice scoot Carmen should be good on juice).

I'm upgrading from a 250cc scoot that I've been using for commuting. The X8 400ie is more powerful - just a shade under 100mph top speed, and more comfy on the motorway, I can imagine doing some serious mile munching on it. Owners tell me they do about 60-70mpg which around the same as my old scooter - and could possibly be better!!

I haven't touched my CB for a while now, though I am still planning to take it to the Ace for the 70's day on the 20th if the weather's good.

I've just gone and bought myself a new (well to me) scooter. Don't laugh... but it's a 2006 Piaggio X8 400ie...

I'm picking it up on saturday and probably will take it straight from the dealers down to Dorset to see my mum (about 140 miles)!

I had an hour test ride on it on Saturday just gone... it was brill, very comfy, fairly quick and feels solid and stable to ride. Definitely feels safer on the motorway than either my CB350F or my old 250 Aprilia scooter!

Many of you will know me from the US SOHC4 site, but yes I'm a Brit.

I live in Hertfordshire and own a '73 Honda CB350F which I've had since 1999. It would be nice to get to know more UK SOHC owners.

Perhaps we could all go down to the Ace on July 20th for their 70's day??!
