There is a very good specialist welder down here in Kent.
If you are really stuck if you can take some photos and send them to me
i can go and see them for their comments.

My Point in possibly making these was to supply a service NOT suggest everyone should rush out and put them on their bikes.
Until i had been informed that you can get them I have seen a lot of bikes "original/ concourse"in articles and books without them.
Judging by the comments sorry i even mentioned them.
I'll think again before posting.

Hi all
I know back in the 70's we all threw away the metal plug cap covers so please don't shout at me.
I'm considering making a batch if i can borrow an original as a master.
Anyone out there can lend me a good /bad or plain ugly one i can take dimensions from?.
Cheers ;D

I bought a 500/4 from Greys of Chatham  in 1974 and went to Chisolmes to buy some
new plug caps and do away with the metal shrouds they came with,it was snowing when i collected it,
still probably the best bike i owned.
Yes as you say 'good old days' sadly gone only stress was polishing the bike at weekends.
I lived in Gillingham and  a friend lived 3 houses away and had a 750,Red had it stolen and insurance paid out and he
bought a gold one. The Red one turned up in a garden some months later in a garden next door to Rainham Police station  :)
I'd like to relive it by getting the 175 back, sad i know.

I owned it for a year and sold it to my twin brother,he sold it to a friend
who ran into something and bent the forks so i thought it would have gone to the great breakers in the sky.
I bought it from Chambers of Rochester.
Is yours a 750 you are looking for.?

Back ,what seems yesterday,I bought a CB175 new 1972 and then went on then a cb250 and then
a 500/4 and a 550/4 and BMW's etc.
I always thought the 500 to be the best. Several friends had 750's but i couldn't afford one,'til now(and wanting to re kindle my youth)
Bought a Gold one last Saturday, pretty much one owner from new ,all but 3 months even got original purchase invoice 1974 £825.
Te restore or not???Haven't made my mind up but it does need a tidy up.
Also bought a cb175 last year, again gold like i had.
my original one DKL54K is still on the road somewhere according to DVLA Anyone seen it?
does any one know how to achieve the correct finish of the outer casings? I have seen several highly polished, they never were, any help appreciated.
I'm in Kent :) :)
