I sent my dirt bike suspension off to Brook suspension recently and was impressed with their service. They also do fork re-chroming. https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/best-sellers/motorcycle-fork-rechroming-service-for-stanchions-both-legs/
£165 for both legs is far cheaper than getting an aftermarket set. Has anyone used them for rechroming or is there another place people tend to go to? Mine are not in great condition but I spoke to them on the phone and they said they've not come across a set that can't be saved yet..

We and many other on here use AM Philpots in Luton. Fantastic work every time. Similar price retail and the also collect and deliver for a small charge.

So I asked Philpots about rechroming the top nuts and they said they would do it FOC whilst my tubes were being done. I can see why you all use them!

I’ve been using Philpots for many years too. Only had a problem once a lot of years ago with Norton Featherbed stanchions which have a bottom bush which fits on a reduced diameter and these came back eccentric by about 4 thou to the main leg. None of our Hondas use that system but check yours and tell them if it’s the case.
I sorted the problem by reducing the spigot diameter and making new custom bottom bushes but not everyone has accurate machining facilities.
Every other time, they have done a first class job like the others say.

I have used Philpots...and my 750 legs are going that way very shortly. My chrome isn;t ...bad...but it starting to pit and bubble in a couple of places, and really...I found hte chrome Philpoyts use to be very durable. More so than some large manufacturers I could name...like Yamaha...

Had several sets of fork legs done at Phillpots, Always good, friendly staff too. The manager is a keen motorcyclist, ended up chatting to him for about half an hour when I picked up some Suzuki T350 stanchions. Great for me as they are local

Last time I went to Philpotts he gave me an unofficial guided tour of the workshop. Great to see how the work was undertaken, real skill and care.

There are surface finishes that have altered/additional friction reduction materials, but I don't think that's the case here.
As I understand it, it's the surface grind that leaves a structure to hold lubricant in very small quantities that allow the seal to move easily. A little like the inverse of a cylinder bore. There is a very very small loss of oil that you can just about see gathering dust over a period of time above the fork seal, almost undetected n volume.
They centreless grind the tubes to finish, it states on their info page. If you set up a tube in fixed centres to grind it, then any bend in the tube at all, or deflection from the grind wheel pressure, could result in the grind breaking through the chrome layer, but if centreless it just follows the surface and leaves the chrome layer at uniform thickness all round the tube.
The grind wheel material creates the desired final surface micro finish, if you run your finger nail up and down it you should by able to just hear the surface.
