Many Honda bolts came in that dark olive finish, but I guess Chromium VI is out... What's the experience on those cold brush on/dip black dye/tarnishing? (clean - de-grease - acid dip - dye (possible repeat) - fixing liquid - soak in dehydration oil) Seems to work OK on steel bolts and parts like engine mounts or exhaust brackets... but long term corrosion inhibition? Will it also work on the aluminum switch-pod casings?

I'm getting swamped since folks realize I've a shed that I wrench in... Anyway, the old scoot has drums front and rear, having a hard time finding new brake cables... Any source where I can select some by length, diameter of threaded rod and nipple type? I remember kits one solder the required nipple onto the cable... (I must be getting old now... )

might be worth a look or two: https://www.honda-classics.co.uk/(I've bought tools and stuff in the past, and they're really well made...)

Hi, apologizes for going dark for a while... Workshop relocation and others, like the '82 CX500E of an acquaintance which has not been on the road since 1996 Tank, sending unit, carbs, forks, brake system, bearings, switch pods, fuse panel, etc, etc... down to the notorious 7V regulator powering temp and fuel gauge... However, engine purrs again Once this project is outta here, the 500/4s will receive some attention... Cheers! ... transmitted from a CAT S60 thing ...

Well, my '76 CB500K2 is supposed to have that (as the 550).
Is that thing instantly beeping when the indicators are switched on, or is there a delaying component present retarding the audible signal for like 90 or 120 seconds?

Well, the header already gives it away I need a carrier whom I can contract online to pick up a parcel (carton roll, holding a bike livery kit for an ST1100) in West Sussex RH15 9TY and ship it to Vienna, Austria. Already peeked at dhl.co.uk, where I could instruct such procedure (they even accept PayPal, Visa, MC, etc...), but 52 quid for a 2kg parcel seems a bit steep IMHO... Somewhat cheaper should be avail., even DS sends items for about half that amount... TIA! cheers

Hi,
all the sets offered I can find are stainless Allen head bolts...
Anyone aware of a source for a standard galvanized, OEM like set, with the Philips, 8 & 10mm heads for top and bottom end?
TIA

I found two different version if the carbs I've at hand:
- soft, more flexible ones, made of spring grade stainless steel - rigid, stiff ones, made of thicker, pretty solid steel plates
Methinks the first ones are the OEM quality, though they do seem to get bend easily when tightening the locknut after syncing (I found all soft ones been bend by PO/mechs, whilst on the carb with the "stiff" stabilizers, the links were misaligned...)
Some of the veterans care to elaborate?
