3 years, and 5,000 miles ago I fitted a set of Dunlop Street smart tyres,
3.25 X 19 F
4.00 X 18 rear,
after 5K miles I need to replace both,
going back to AM26 Avons,as they seem just to have little more feel,
the Dunlops gripped well, both wet and dry,but the center groove in the front seems to make squirming when braking,
will see if Avons are as good as 3 yrs ago

big smiles, went for a 200mile ride out today, left Hereford then along the A44 to the coast at Borth,a single road seaside village, little traffic, perfect conditions, then north to Machynlleth ,lovely little town,on to Newtown, from there along a wonderful biking road to Crossgates, and a quick cup of tea, then back along the A44 home, wonderful, long may the summer last

after owning the 500 for about 37 yrs,I have had time to repair the ravages of 55,000 miles and lots of bad weather journeys,
so,first replace both rims and spokes with stainless items,Central Wheels, they look and feel great,
while the wheels were dismantled, clean and spray the hubs, brake plate, calipers, and fork legs, recovered the seat, great service from Dis-cover, had the tank resprayed, pin stripes quite good, and chrome edging from the US,
better looking than the old chrome,to me an acceptable substitute ,

the bike is an M plate CB500-4,after 40yrs and 55,000 miles the spokes and rims are looking scruffy,
so I thought a strip down, paint the hubs in aluminium and have stainless spokes, chrome plated brass nipples, and stainless rims,
lo maintenance,easy clean,no corrosion,
several suppliers do these,
What do you think? any experience of suppliers to AVOID ?
will they know how many holes in the rim ??
comments please

as my CB500/4 K1 is approaching its 40th anniversary,
it has come to my notice the HT are hard and brittle ,
especially when cold,
when riding in wet weather ,I am getting problems of cylinders 2,and 3 shorting out,
so I would like to renew, and extend the HT leads with nice new flexible leads,
could I have your suggestions on the best/easiest methods ?

I have a CB500-4,
1974 M plate,
recently its been dripping oil,and when I removed the gearbox sprocket cover,I noticed the section that covers the oil pump, was lots of loose oil about,
I had a look around, its very clean,no obvious leak, looking in the manual,I see a large O ring, and several smaller O rings at the mounting bolts, also the pressure-relief cap,
any ideas?
