Out & About / When I'm cleaning windows..................
« on: September 14, 2023, 08:29:08 PM »
I rarely post pics of my bike rides out cos I don't go too far nowadays, but seeing as the George Formby Appreciation Society met in Blackpool this week.....I thought 'Why not'. This is the Blue Plaque outside the great man's former home in Lytham. It's a lovely spot and I believe he spent some happy years looking out over the Ribble Estuary from his beautiful home.

My sister lives across the Estuary....it's just a few miles from me, but to visit I have to travel into Preston, cross the River Ribble and out again to Hesketh Bank (Southport)....about 30 miles each way. DOH !

Member 4 Sales / Electric Scooter For Sale.....
« on: April 27, 2023, 01:30:01 PM »
My next door neighbour has a Kingday Intelligent Technology 'E Rider' Electric Scooter which has been sitting unused in his garden for a year or so.

It's nothing to do with me, but it might be of interest to Forum Members as he only wants about £400 for it. I would think the Battery will be U/S as it's been sitting for so long....I have no idea what a new one costs, what fitting a replacement entails, or even if they are available.  The rear shocks are rusty, and some of the other bits need a good clean up, but I doubt if it's seen much mileage in its short life.....so it might make a good shopping runaround or a first bike for a Teenager.

The Registration mark is PO67FSZ if you want to check it out with DVLA. I can't see what the mileage is or how powerful the Battery is, so you will have to make your own enquiries.....please remember I have nothing to do with this sale, I'm just passing it on to Forum Members as my neighbour is a decent bloke.

I live in Lytham St Annes in case anyone wants to view it.....message me if you do.

Member 4 Sales / Honda CB600F 2007 For Sale
« on: September 16, 2022, 11:51:56 PM »
Splendid 2007 Honda CB600F for sale. This has the Fuel Injected Engine from the Honda CB600RR (detuned, but it's still around 100 BHP) and ABS. It's a fabulous Bike and it's almost as new and as it left the Factory with only 1370 Miles now from me and one other Mature previous Owner who spoiled it rotten from new until a few months ago.

It needs nothing, has a long MOT and is ready to go. I bought it as I had a Hernia but now that's been fixed (fabulous NHS in Blackpool....Angels every one of them) I want to go back to a bigger bike so it has to go.

I'm asking £4250 for it as it's such a rare bike in this condition and with such low mileage, it really is like a new bike. Find another one like this if you can ! The Baglux Tank Cover and a Baglux Bag may be available if the asking price is met.

I'm near Blackpool and I might be able to deliver within a reasonable distance from me for a reasonable price. Ask me - I don't bite.

Out & About / Wray Green Traction Engine & Steam Fair
« on: September 03, 2022, 03:08:13 PM »
Just a couple of 'old uns' from today in Wray Green (near Preston/ Blackpool). The 125 is a 'D Reg and the 175 is a 'K Reg'. At least that what I think they are (tiddlers are not my thing). They looked much better kept than some of the rusty old Brit tubs next to them !

The event is also on this Sunday.........hopefully the rain will keep off as a lot of Exhibitors seem to be camping overnight.

Other Bikes / Update......try to keep awake at the back !
« on: July 23, 2022, 02:42:51 PM »
All this stuff about New Bikes got me jealous (almost). Having sold on the 74 CB500 Four I bought to run around on this summer which turned out to have an engine problem - think Ringo drumming on a stack of tin cans, I sold it on E Bay to a very nice bloke in Pontefract. He had a splendid old Kawasaki Z650 and a lovely Triumph Stag, so I was very happy it went to a good home and no doubt he'll make a nice restoration of it. Hopefully, he'll join this great Forum so we might see the bike in the future. I hope so.

After unloading it from the trailer we started it up and it ran like a sewing machine....."I thought you said it has an engine problem" ! he said...."It does....I have been dead straight that it probably needs a new Cam Chain and Tensioners".   I could have cried !!!!! It ran perfectly.....but the deal was done so I moved on.

I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 CB600F.......one mature owner (who kept it in his bedroom) with 1200 miles on it. Lovely bike and just what I wanted after my Hernia Op two weeks ago. Nice and light, easy to shift around in my garden/ garage and with brilliant steering when on the move. A bit buzzy compared to what I'm used to, but bags of ooomph and very happy with the little steed (especially the low mileage as it's like it just left the Honda Showroom).

My Hernia Op went well so just behaving myself while I get better, then I'll hopefully start on some of my other bike projects again, and catch up on all the jobs around the house that the Hernia has stopped me from doing in the last year. I might even get my 1970 Bonneville on the road after importing it as a wreck in 2008 ! Watch this space.

Thanks to those of you who enquired over my health recently......much appreciated. There are some real stars on this Forum.....you know who you are, and I hope I have been as good a friend to you as you have been to me.

I pinched this from a Triumph Bike Forum.

It's a Petition asking for the law to provide access to all Bus Lanes for Motorcycles. Seems like a good idea to me, especially if you commute on your Motorcycle in Towns or Cities.

Member 4 Sales / CB500 Four 1976 For sale.
« on: April 25, 2022, 10:51:51 PM »
I have recently bought this 1976 CB500 Four. It's a nice bike BUT it has developed a noise which I think is the Camshaft Chain. It could be something else, but that is probably the problem ! I bought it to run over the Summer and was planning to upgrade it over the Winter, but I'm not keen on losing out over the Summer riding and I just want a daily (weekly) rider. If I have to rebuild it then I'll have to do it, but before I do, I thought I'd see if anyone on the sohc Forum wants to take it on.

It's an Import (obviously) with a 73 K3 Engine (21781XX) in a KI Frame (20865XX - from what I can make out) and TBH it's been a bit 'unloved', but it's a sound investment as I'm asking £3500 or best (sensible) offer. It has the makings of a nice bike with new DSS Saddle, Battery, Tyres, Oil & Air Filters and it actually rides well. With a bit of TLC, it could be a Keeper.

P/X is possible but it will need to be about as light (200Kg) and about as powerful (50BHP) as this bike is.

I may be able to deliver within a reasonable distance of Lytham St Annes for a fair sum. I have the V5 and it doesn't require Tax or an MOT due to it's age.

If you need more information or photos, just ask.....I don't bite.

Best regards,
Alan.

Member 4 Sales / CB 750K (341) Chrome Rear Mudguards FOR SALE.
« on: February 03, 2022, 07:01:00 PM »
I have just bought 3 used CB750K Chrome Rear Mudguards from the USA. These are the 341 type for 1972 to 1976 SOHC models.

I'm keeping one, but if anyone needs one or both of the other two, I'm asking £100+ P&P each........as the shipping from the USA is mega expensive now.

They are in good solid condition with a few small dings and some small rust spots around the mounting holes and in the 'creases' (they are all the same now after 50 years) and surface rust underneath, which can be treated and cleaned off. The Rear Light Assemblies are available separately.

These are good enough to use as is, or ideal as a spare. They would also make a good resto for a concours bike if you were to get them re-chromed.

Reproductions are available of course, but they cost around £250/ £300+ P&P and they are unlikely to be as good quality or fit as these originals.

Let me know if anyone wants to buy them or I'll put them on E Bay.

Cheers.

Member 4 Sales / BMW F800ST For Sale
« on: October 14, 2021, 05:34:37 PM »
My 2010 BMW F800ST is for sale as I have a Hernia (I think) and until that's sorted, I won't be doing any riding.

Nice bike.....well looked after and has a good history, with only 12K miles. It suits the black paint and everything works as it should. It's a UK supplied NON ABS model, so no worries about that going haywire (£££££). I have a shedload of documents as the previous mature owner was rather fastidious during his ownership....one of the reasons that I bought this particular bike. Excellent Continental tyres. BMW Rack and BMW Top Box with a Givi Pannier Rack fitted to take their V35 Panniers and a spare BMW Pannier Rack to take the BMW Panniers (Panniers are NOT included as I don't have them).

MOT till next March and it needs nothing doing....just riding ! It has a few minor scratches etc but it's 11 years old and with this low mileage, and it's overall good condition, you won't need to spend anything on it for a year or two.

Dealers are asking £4K+ so I think £2950 is a fair price.

The bike is in Lytham St Annes (near Blackpool) and I might be able to deliver up to 50 miles or so or happy to assist your Courier.

No point in a P/X as I can't ride it !

If you need more details or photos, please ask.

Anorak's Corner / Zinc Plating Kits (Home)
« on: April 06, 2021, 06:40:32 PM »
I have been reading up on the old posts about Zinc Plating Kits for the home on the sohc Forum. All sorts of stuff on there going back years, but it didn't answer the $64,000 question which I'm sure somebody on here can help with - which is:

What is a the most useful and best value Kit to buy to zinc plate the various nuts, bolts and small brackets that are always needed to finish off a bike project ?

I don't need anything super dooper, just something which gets the job done so the parts look OK when they are finished, they don't take a lifetime's work to prepare or look after later, the kit comes complete with everything I need to start plating (or any accessories which will be needed ARE clearly advised) and they represent good value for money. Additionally, if there is a good Kit available for £150, but by spending another £20 or so I'll get a much better Kit or twice as many raw materials, that advice would also be welcome.

I'm not a Techie and I don't need to know all the Chemical ins and outs of the process....as it will just go right over my old addled brain, but if anyone can advise from their own experience or recommend a Supplier who I should contact, I'd be most obliged.

Thanks in advance, and as my old Foreman who we called the Balloon used to say, 'Don't let me down folks' !
