SOHC Singles & Twins / LED Indicators
« on: May 17, 2023, 10:47:42 AM »
I converted the indicators on my 1981 CB100N to LED bulbs, (together with diode and the correct relay), they work fine with the engine off but flicker when the engine is running. The supplier suggested that this may be due to an unsuppressed HT lead. I used a new coil with a suppressed lead and a suppressed spark plug cap but the flickering remains when the engine is running. Has anyone had a similar experience or maybe suggest what might be causing the flickering? Thanks.

SOHC Singles & Twins / HT Lead

1981 CB100N. Can the HT lead on these coils be replaced? Does the lead unscrew or pull out or are they somehow bonded to the coil? Cheers.

SOHC Singles & Twins / Headlight

I've had a problem with the headlight on my CB100N which I traced to the handlebar switch, after cleaning the switch it worked for a short while but is now dead again. I was thinking of wiring up the headlight so that it comes on permanently when the ignition is switched on. I assume that it will have to be on dip permanently but this is not a problem as I only ride the bike during the day. I want a working headlight during the day as this is how I normally ride the bike anyway. Is it as simple as joining wires together to achieve this? If so, which wires? Cheers.

SOHC Singles & Twins / Faulty switch

Has anyone tried to clean or repair a handlebar switch? I traced the cause of my headlight not working to a faulty OFF<-->ON switch at the handlebar. I was thinking of removing the small metal plate above the sliding switch to maybe try to check / clean the contacts but am worried that if removing it springs / ball bearings might fly out, probably never to be found again, (as happened to me many years ago with a Fizzy Yamaha). I have been looking for a while for a second hand replacement but there haven't been any up for sale, any for sale are all left hand switches not right hand switches, (1981 CB100N). Thanks.
