I'd also be interested in the std bars if they're in reasonable condition and if Ash passes !

+1 on both the exhaust and black as a colour !

I switched to a Delkevic for my 400 as it suits the cafe style more than the original Honda pipes and allowed me to use the originals on a proper restoration that's in progress.  I'm sure that you'll love the noise - sort of borderline hooligan with the baffle in !!!

Ideally you should measure the height of the old bearing and compare with the new one to work out how thick a stem washer would need to be before you assemble.  If you assemble and trial fit, you'll have to remove the interference fit lower race from the stem to fit a washer.

Lovely job !  Sure there will be a few dry and sunny days over the winter months to get it settled in for the following summer.

I wonder how many of us have bought the same key rings !!

Fabulous timing for a couple of 400 rebuilds !

I'm half way through my rebuild with engine stripped and cleaned, but a trip to the hospital has put things on hold for a bit, so a couple of rebuild threads will hopefully get me back into it !

Can I ask which ever one of you gets their head off first to give me a cylinder liner OD dimension please so I can check if mine is still std

Many thanks, and good luck !

Ok thanks Trigger, would you happen to know or be able to measure the od of a std liner  ?

That's an interesting post Trigger !

I stripped my project 400/4's engine a few weeks ago to find a set of 54mm Yoshi big bore pistons installed (have since contacted the original owner who told me that he had Dixon racing fit the Yoshi kit and do a bit of head rework back in the 80's)  The pistins and bores now mic up to just about max clearance and are a little oval, so I figured the only option is Cruzinimage's 54.5mm big bore kit - would you avoid that on the 400 ?  I guess the only other option is to look out for another set of barrels or new liners if they're available anywhere ?  Any recommendations ?

Thanks in advance !

Ok, thanks chaps, I'm not familiar with 750s so great to get some learned advice !  Looks like it's not worth the hassle then !

No V5, allegedly been stored for 15yrs and part of a 'job lot'

Definitely going to need a lot of time and cash - bit worried about tank availability, are they around ?

On a tablet at present, and having difficulty driving it, so will try to add a photo when I get to a pc !

CB750 / CB750 Offered - worth a go ?
« on: July 30, 2017, 07:17:12 PM »
I've been offered a UK K2 that's in need of restoration.  All the chrome is scrap, needs an exhaust system and it has the wrong tank.  Engine turns over but not running.  Obviously difficult without photo's (will add some when I get them) but it's offered for £650 - sound about right for a money pit project ?

Tricks & Tips / Mudguard Rust Proofing Recommendations Please
« on: July 25, 2017, 09:18:17 AM »
I now have some nice new shiny bits to bolt on, so before I do, what would people recommend for preventing / reducing rust underneath mudguards - Waxoyl, Por15, paint, others  ?

CB350/400 / 400 Cam Chain Tensioner Arm
« on: June 29, 2017, 09:27:38 AM »
Any places other than DSS to source a replacement tensioner arm for a 400/4 that people would recommend ?  I got my last one from Peter Arnold of PACRE, but he seems to have disappeared ?

I stripped the engine of my 400 last night and found that the pivot point of the arm has been chewed by the cam chain - not enough for it to seize, but enough for it to feel a little sticky at the extremes of it's movement.  I did clean it up with a small file, but I think I'll replace anyway to be safe !

I use CTEKs on my bikes and cars that do not see regular use - similar to Optimate, and work well in my experience.  Would pay for itself quite quickly if you're replacing batteries that often !
