Thanks everybody, I’ll try petrol first then move on if it doesn’t succeed. The slow/idle jet has already disintegrated in one carb, so taking it slowly from this point on. All other aspects of the carbs are in great nick, accept for the link bar, which is very corroded.

That was the second bottle.... ;)

Yes, a US import with Title deeds.

Carbs are indeed going to be tough. I can’t extract any of the jets or float pins. The set is currently resting nicely in a bath of carb cleaner.

Just thought I’d share some January misery and ‘show case’ my classic HOS.

Julie, I’ll be in touch shortly if and when I can extract those carbs.

Happy New Year to all.

Hang on a minute. Was that a Red F1 .something familiar about that registration. I bought a Red 400 4 in about 1978,79.

Yes that’s the shop alright. The high kerb on exit claimed many a new bike owner :-\

I think you mean Mick Butterfield?

I do indeed. Was peering through his window last weekend...didn’t see the Vinny, though.

Spent many a wasted hour at Alan Mountains. Little did I know I’d be living in his basement a few years later when it was converted to flats!

My brother completed a 400Four build donated by Alan’s widow a couple of years back who lives opposite...small world! Turned a bitsa Basket case to good runner.

Yep, it’s a 369. Know anybody who would like one, it’s no good to me. Or swap for some CB550 F2 parts.

Phil

Just taken delivery of my 77 F2. Just having a little weep and then will resume the autopsy.

In the mean time, does anybody recognise this. Its deffo not a F2 seat?

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Hi, Nurse Julie. It’s my intention/ambition to get the machine to some kind of usable /presentable/ serviceable condition without approaching the unaffordable (personally speaking) concours condition. Does that make sense?

I’m missing a rear bumper bar if anybody can help?

Thanks again.

PJ.
