Title: Case paint?
Post by: Arch stanton on April 06, 2019, 05:47:56 PM
It has probably been covered many times but....
Which if any. Is the recommended silver case paint?
As I thought it about time I refreshed my 175 sloper.
Is there any petrol resistant paint anymore?
Regards.
Sean.

I have no idea what the original case finish was like on a sloper but SIMVHT31D is what we use on all 69-78 CB SOHC/4's.

Yes it is Simoniz, yes, it comes in silver (that's the product number above).
No paint is 100% petrol proof/ chemical resistant, unless you go for a 2K. But, on my engines where a little petrol has touched the paint, as long as i wipe it off, it doesn't take the paint off.
Difficult to find anyone who can use 2K without getting lots of dribbles when trying to paint in between the fins.
