CB750 / Spring pin location?
« on: August 25, 2019, 05:49:53 PM »
Can anyone identify where this spring pin should fit in 71 K1?  It measures 5*22 mm, I have it labelled as wheel hub but cant see where it would fit in either hub. Looks like I've mislabelled it. I've searched my manual and parts book from front to back but can't find it in those either. :-\

CB750 / Swing arm bush fitting
« on: July 12, 2019, 04:36:13 PM »
Hi All,
I'm just about to fit some new bushes into a powder coated K1 swing arm, they are a very tight fit , any tips on getting them in?  I've cleaned the swing arm of any excess powder coat ,I have bronze bushes and they're in the freezer at the minute, not sure if I should warm the swing arm up in case it mucks up the coating?

CB750 / K1 carb question
« on: May 13, 2019, 08:50:44 PM »
Hi all,
I'm bracing myself to start dismantling my carburettors, I'm just checking them over , taking pics and working out which bits to zinc plate which to chrome etc before taking the plunge. Are the bowls and caps polished or zinc plated ?  I've also noticed what appears to be a screw where there should be a bolt on the plate set (stay) highlighted in the pic hopefully. Is this correct or has someone been losing bits? Finally any tips before i take the plunge? Thanks in advance!!

Tricks & Tips / Wheel bearing retainer removal
« on: April 22, 2018, 09:09:16 PM »
This worked quite well...I used an adjustable angle grinder spanner tapped into the cut out sections on the retainer to remove it, after drilling out the stakes. Worth a go if you have one lying around!

Project Board / 750 K1 project
« on: March 31, 2018, 04:39:09 PM »
I acquired my valley green K1 a couple of months ago, its a US import in need of some attention. I have just started to spend some time on it as youve probably gathered from some of the posts i've already made. I'm really pleased to have joined this group because i have already received a lot of help and advice and found loads more information through reading other members posts and projects. Thanks.. its much appreciated.
The bike is now stripped and parts sorted, labelled and stored until ready to be dealt with. I thought i would make a start on the motor and I now have it cleaned and on a stand (thanks Julie!) but have been brought to a standstill on that front by the 3 breather cover screws on the rocker cover. All are seized solid. JIS impact driver wouldnt loosen them nor heat or penetrating oil, drilling the heads off made no difference, the cover still wouldnt come off.
I have after a week or so got the breather cover off and two of the screws out completely but one stubborn bu#8er will not come out and is holding the rocker cover on with it!...I will get it out eventually! :)
I have the forks stripped and ready to go for hard chroming, the seat is covered and just needs a couple of finishing touches (done while waiting for the penetrating oil to work its magic!).. Im really enjoying this!

CB750 / Seat recovering
« on: March 30, 2018, 10:08:19 AM »
Hi Guys, just a quick query! I'm about to recover my K1 seat, base is good, powder coated, all the spikes are there and sharpened!  I've recovered a seat before using contact adhesive  that went well but I've never used the spikes before. Question is which method would you use, if spikes..any tips?
Thanks.

CB750 / Cb750 frame welding
« on: March 17, 2018, 12:02:10 PM »
Having stripped my K1 frame down and getting it ready for powder coating I'm slightly concerned at the quality of welding and assembly...the welds are quite rough and some welded on sections look as though the welder had had a few beers..? ie: out of square! Is this normal or have I just got a rough one?

CB750 / swingarm stuff
« on: February 22, 2018, 05:28:15 PM »
hi all,
hasn't taken long for me to ask my first question!
on stripping down my K1 swing arm I discovered it was damaged and ordered a replacement. It was upon examining the replacement that I realised that the collar ( part 12) was missing entirely from the original swing arm, no wonder it was damaged!  The replacement looks identical but the original pivot pin (15) will not fit through the collar,  according to the parts manual these parts are common to the K0,K1 & K2..it would be nice to know what am I missing here before I shell out on a new collar. Can anyone enlighten me?

New Member Introductions / Hi from Derbyshire
« on: February 19, 2018, 06:59:27 PM »
Hi,
I'm a retired firefighter from the Peak District and have been into bikes all my life. I enjoy restoring older bikes and have just finished a Kawasaki KH500 which I'm looking forward to getting out on the road. But I have always had a thing for the Honda CB750, until 5 years ago I owned a lovely Candy Gold K2 which I sold and have regretted ever since. So I have just taken delivery of a pretty rough 1971 Valley Green K1 31,000 miles  which I intend to restore and have already started to take apart. All my experience with motors so far has been limited to two strokes so I have joined The forum to hopefully glean some information, tips and advice from you all when I start to dismantle the motor.  Who knows I may be able to contribute myself when I'm done! So thanks for having me.
