Does anyone have a preference as to which brand are best for the CB500? My clutch is a bit abrupt which I believe is common on the CB500s. In the Brooklands book on the CB500s and 550s there is an article which recommends fitting CB450K0 plates instead 22201-283-000 which supposedly cures the problem. They have since been superseded by 22201-MA7-000 plates. Has anyone tried using these or are the modern replacement plates less harsh?

Hi all,
Decided on a little routine maintenance today but as per usual I seem to have just created a whole world of misery for myself. Adjusted tappets on my CB500K1 and fitted new plugs, before running the bike again thought I'd re-tension the cam chain adjuster.
When I fired the bike up it made a horrible rattling sound on idle and low revs which seems to go away as you increase the revs. The adjusting screw slot is in the horizontal position, is it supposed to be vertical? See photo
Have tried turning the screw but doesn't seem to want to turn more than 45 degrees clockwise. Went through manual procedure of setting crankshaft advancer assembly at 15 degrees ATDC but seems no movement in adjustment screw. I am not aware of damaging anything but does sound like a bag of nails now.
Any advice greatly appreciated,

Hi,
I had my carbs rebuilt a couple of months ago but they've developed a fault. I have a CB500 K1, on first starting it wont tick over on or off choke without being revved. Once warm it runs fine and ticks over happily at 1500rpm but as you continue to ride it the idle tick over increases up to 3000rpm and has to be adjusted down.

May seem like a stupid question but could someone just confirm for me which position is choke on and choke off on the carburetor mounted choke lever.

Hi,
The breather pipe leading from the rocker cover on my bike is smoking and leaking oil, apart from that it sounds pretty healthy, most noticeable on cold mornings. I did take the rocker cover off recently and noticed the 4 small round oil seals on the underside of the cover looked to be in poor shape, could these be to blame?
