Hi
Now got the carbs fitted (thanks for the help) I have fitted the airbox and the battery. I have tried turning the electrics on for the first time, all seems ok except the indicators. Moving the switch to either left or right just gives me a loud screeching noise, the bulbs don't light and I can't hear the relay at all.
Anyone ever seen this, I haven't had a chance to fault find on it yet but I guess either the relay is shot or there is a short?

The screech could be the relay if there is a short or could be the audible device depending on what bike

Hi
The bike is a CB550k3 which was imported from the US. So it was built to their standards, on the circuit diagram in the haynes manual it does show a turn signal buzzer, but I haven't actually seen it (not that i've looked) on the bike.

May not be related, but it's good practice to run a separate earth cable to each of the indicators. Sounds like the flasher relay has gone, and take the opportunity to remove the awful buzzer.

Agree 100% with the above advice.

Thanks for the replies, where is this buzzer located on the CB550k3, I must admit I haven't noticed it?
-
Fixed, it was the buzzer, as soon as I removed it the indicators started working.
Thanks for the advice.

LMAO, must only be me that likes that buzzer. I still have it fitted to one of my 500s.
Ha ! No you are not alone, I've put one on my CB500 I would not be without it.

But honda asked the dealers to remove them as they sounded too much like crossing beepers to the blind!!

Same here, sounds like a dust cart reversing when applying the indicators. with my memory i need it.

My CB550K3 came with the original buzzer removed so I put an aftermarket one on which isn't too obtrusive. I also changed the indicators to led's and got an led relay at (total cost £10) and that was one of the steps which solved my charging problems (the others being a Phillips Eco H4 bulb and an led stop/tail)

+1 for the buzzer mine sounds like a strangled cat. I wouldn't be without it :D
