I'm having my fairing etc painted on the 16th, below is the colour I want, evidently it's an original Honda colour called burnt orange topaz (according the person that built the one in the photo), does anyone know the colour code so that I can save the painter a bit of time searching, cheers Mark.

If it's a 70's colour Honda didn't use codes, only names.
What bikes used that paint originally?
-
Yes it's a 70's colour Lester, I'll have to leave it to the painter to find a match, cheers .
-
If you do find the correct colour match for the 'Dick Mann' CR750 please let us know as I want to paint my bike in that colour. Perhaps there is a modern colour code for it.
Cheers

There is a vintage Honda can of paint on flea-bay at the moment from the USA - Candy Topaz Orange, Part No. 08701-99906. There is also the code YR-1C shown on the tin. Perchance that may help.

Hi Eric, the painter tried to get YR-1C from his usual supplier earlier today but they didn't have it, he is trying other suppliers and will let me know in a couple of days, I will let you know, cheers Mark.

Good news the painter has managed to get YR-1C, it's being painted next weekend so I'll post some pics when its done.

Hi Mark - how did this turn out? I am currently on the hunt for a colour match!
Thanks,

If you find a local paint supplier who have Lechler Paints they usually have the codes for all the old colours. Usually cheaper than RS Paints who use Lechler.

Oh dear, it turned out very badly indeed!, he turned out to be a complete idiot, he ended up keeping my tank etc for months, constantly telling me it was nearly done but actually doing nothing, he then wouldn't give me my parts back, it took some covert work to retrieve everything and get my deposit back, he's not in business anymore (happy to say I had a hand in that 😄), so I gave the tank and fairing a temporary red and silver rattle can job so that I could get the bike on the road which is still in place until I get the urge to begin the final jobs (4 into 4 exhaust to fit etc),then I will have to find a decent painter to do the CR750 paint job, so I can't really help other than to say that I'm pretty sure that the paint code above is correct.

Candy is difficult.
If the part isn't to big to ship I would be very happy to help you.
-
Thanks for the offer menno but the size of the fairing rules out shipping, I have had a good painter recommended to me here in derby but it will be next year before I get it done, too busy playing with my Ducati's 😄

I had CD175 parts painted candy red a few years ago by Dream Machine the price was good, all steel parts blasted back to bare metal. The finish was excellent and is still as good today. They will collect and deliver. I would certainly use them again.

I forgot to say the timescale we agreed on for the job they delivered on the dot.
