Title: Evening all
Post by: PaulC on September 29, 2021, 07:31:48 PM
Just popping in to say hello! I've acquired what I think is a 76  CB400 Super Four that has been sat in a garage for the last 11 years. So thought I would seek out some like minded people for friendly banter and much needed advice, as this will be my first foray into ll thinks mechanical 😀

TIA Paul

Welcome to the forum and have fun. If its a 76 it will be a Super Sport.  The CB400 Super four is a totally different bike as you will find out when looking for parts.  ;)

Welcome to the forum - whatever your budget is for spending on the bike when you reach it stop adding it up after that date.

Hi and welcome Paul, some of us here are older than our bikes, so we remember PC George Dixon  :)

Hi Paul.  There's no pi55 taking on here, just helpful advice and banter.

Moorey - I stand corrected, although the script on the tank was a big giveaway 😀

Wow the colour is the same as mine as the bloke I bought it from was a sprayer at RR Derby I assumed it was not a Honda colour!
Okay a slightly different shade but who cares!

Just been catching up on your build thread Ted! Glad to hear you're recovering well. As you can see by the photos I think my bike has been given the cornstar treatment 😀

Regards Paul

Thanks, I'm feeling quite well at the moment.

It's interesting that you have the Comstar wheels - when they first came out I thought they were a brilliant looking wheel - back in the day I would have fitted Comstar ones to make my bike look more modern. Now that I'm older except on a car it would be wire wheels of the period for a period vehicle. If it was my bike here is the oxymoron I would keep the Comstars.

I suspect it's like fashion in clothing - back in the 1960's I loved flairs and left drainpipes behind. My style for jeans for the last 20 years is Bootfit - not as easy to find today- but easier to get your foot into when you are doing the early morning one legged hop.

I too prefer the spoked rims, but as they cost a fortune I'm going with the cornstars and 250n forks for the moment and just repaint them. My plans aren't down the restoration route anyway, more of a cafe/brat style, I would rather use the budget on other parts and make it something I would like to ride.

Regards Paul
