A single owner bike that has been off the road for almost 30 years. I need to assess it but it looks pretty good - mostly covered in oil and protective film.
Accident on loading - a smashed side panel! Hurumph!

That looks like it will make a nice useable classic Matt,
Did you get all the bits of the broken side panel? I ask because I have just repaired a headlamp shell using tiny pieces of ABS from a front mudguard dissolved slowly in acetone until you get a 'gloopy' syrup. I then clean round the cracks with acetone and start adding the gloop to the inside of the cracks and added pieces, usually with the end of a screwdriver. I keep doing that for a few days allowing drying time in between until all is solid, then fill and spray as normal.

Ian, I have all of the bits of the plastic (I think) so it maybe repairable. My mate brought the bike down from The Lakes and did it loading up. I'm not starting it until I have another bike finished but will look at that repair technique....

That looks like a nice project Matt. Cool crash bars, the previous owner obviously looked after it. I bet there's a good story behind it as well.
Please post pics of the restoration journey as it happens, winter is coming along with shed hibernation!

Original looking bike Matt. Nice project. Interesting repair Ian.

Is that a bad base gasket leak Matt, L/H side.
I can't spot the damage to the side panel, couple on Ebay though. Nice new one but in red as well.

No, doesn't appear to have a leak -its partly dirt and some oil/wax protection. It was running OK when put away and has been stored with some oil in the bores. The marks on the exhaust are from the owners father who brought some shopping back in a carrier bag and managed to melt the bag on the header pipe!! The side panel is quite bad but bade is good. I'll try the repair in due course. Will have a shufty at ebay....
I think I will give it a good clean up first and see what I have - I can't complain about the damage as it has been given to me!!
BTW, anyone know what the key looks like for the helmet lock? (or is it the same as the ignition?)

That is a very nice looking project Matt - not a box of bits for a change.

That’s ace Matt, I have some sooper dooper panel repair gubbins. Looking forward to having a look at that

Key should be the same type as the ignition on that model.
