Having ridden the bike a bit more.. I've noticed all the carbs have a slight leak.. I think this may be having left the tap on and parked on the side stand.
I'm sure the floats are good.. but as it happens on the side I wonder if the rubber gaskets are no good?

Any thoughts

Where is it leaking from, the overflow tubes or the joint between the bowl and the carb body?

It looks like the joint between the carb body.. its only when left on the side.. I guess the seals must not be doing there job.
Trouble is to get the seals I have to buy a complete kit.. !

If you haven't replaced them, who knows how old they are, and with ethanol in fuel these days it's well documented that it attacks rubber parts in the fuel system. There must be someone somewhere that makes and sells just that gasket, as the 400/4 aftermarket gear is probably the biggest range for any of the old Hondas.

Gerben sells them.

As Julie said - search for ebay seller Gerben1956 - he supplies a kit of Viton seals for the float bowls & drain screws, main jets, needle valves and carb to carb fuel lines for less than £20. Worth also checking your float levels whilst they're apart.

Thanks all.. I think its the seals although I changed them with the rebuild .. but looks like it can be the only thing! I'll look the ebay contact up... I just need the seals not the whole kit so hopefully he can do separately.

Thanks Andy, Gerben sorted me some, great price too!!

Good info... I have saved him in my eBay so I can get a set of viton seals before I start the restoration..
Love this forum.. so much good info :)
