Title: 500K2 Carb Needle Clip Position
Post by: philward on January 09, 2021, 08:58:40 PM
Having stripped the carbs to a million parts for cleaning and zincing, I'm going to reassemble them tomorrow.
What's the needle clip position for standard set up be? (standard airbox/exhausts).
Thanks

That's where they're supposed to be in Europe. Out of curiosity I'm experimenting with the clip in 4th position like prescribed by a US booklet. But then you need to turn the airscrew out 2 turns and maybe even a bit more to compensate. In general I advise to leave the needles where they are. It's quite a hassle and IMO a lot can be done by the main jet and the airscrew. Because there is an error in the Shop Manual Honda CB500-550, I thought it wise to compile an overview. Attached below.
