Check out this guy for your rubbers ... Good job this is is the UK site not the US one http://claussstudios.com/id45.htmlBit pricey on rare parts but doubt you would find many of them NOS without one of those horrid eBay bidding wars. Cheers ...AshD

NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM TROPHIES STOLEN DURING BURGLARY - SUBSTANTIAL REWARD OFFERED.
At around 11.00pm last evening (27/08) the inner foyer of the National Motorcycle Museum was broken into and a large amount of the Museum’s trophies & TT replicas stolen.
Each of the Museums trophy cabinets was smashed causing substantial damage to the displays.
Many of the trophies and TT replicas have little “scrap” value but are unique and irreplaceable as part of this countries Motorcycling Heritage.
Because of the historical importance of these trophies the National Motorcycle Museum will be offering a substantial award of £20,000 for information which leads to the safe recovery of these important artefacts.
Anyone with any relevant information is asked to contact West Midlands Police or the National Motorcycle Museum on 01675 443311 or e-mail Museum Director James Hewing james@thenmm.co.uk
The Museum has re-opened as normal this morning. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Bought a CB350 camshaft last week from DK. Very rare as they never usually strip 350 twin engines. Normally they pack stuff really nicely but this was wrapped in a piece of bubble wrap and then in a plastic bag. result ...see attached Phoned them rather than opening an issue with eBay and they are short on staff this week but promising a replacement, which surprises me as they never will normally strip a CB350 twin engine. But what a shame to see such a rare part scrap due to crappy packaging/courier (DPD). Cheers ...AshD

Grrr . was tootling down to Bryan's neck of the wood on Friday for a long weekend when I realized the missus had booked accommodation right near Newent where 'Bob-The-Seat' lives ... could have dropped my 250 seat off to him but didn't realize till too late !! Stayed at a lodge in the Newent Golf Club BTW (no I don't play golf!) really nice people great accommodation & breakfast and I reckon pretty safe place to leave your bike overnight if you stayed there (unfortunately in car this time). Didn't go there this visit but any scooter fans among you (don't all shout at me at once ) can go to the 'dodgy' Littledean Jail Museum of Horrors not too far from there as he has a Quadrophenia exhibition. Discovered Ledbury this time, what a brilliant little place that is. Us 'D's evidently hail from Kings Stanley / Eastington Glos. God knows why they moved to East Yorks. Hands up if you own or ever owned a 'P*ff Chariot' scooter BTW Cheers ... AshD

Anyone out there know the correct grade of glass beads to blast 1) crankcase covers/hubs 2) Cylinder heads / barrels (cast finish). The parts were all painted silver as standard so the surface needs to be correct to take paint, not polished. I will be using dry blaster cabinet we recently bought at work and we have a 'massive' compressor linked to it, so no probs with air supply.
I have been offered two grades out of the many variants the supplier sells, as samples of my choice, just need to establish which ones to try out.
Cheers ....Ash

I often wondered why the chromer failed miserably to perfectly chrome plate my rare alloy tank cap from my CB750K0 ( 'Antimon', pot-metal, Mickey Mouse metal etc. etc. whatever you want to call it) but made a perfect job of my side panel and tank badges. I have now discovered that my '69 CB250SS (K0) ones are made of some for of brass so it must be the case that Honda made the early badges 'emblems' from brass, which chromes perfectly. BTW my 250 side panel badges for a tank painted in Candy Ruby Red / white two-ton should be painted in 'Beans Maroon' whatever colour that is I assume the beans must be red beans, the type you eat with chilli Cheers ... The attached was an B&W advert for the CB750 in 1969 MCM. The bike she is sat on is the Gold Brighton Show 'pre-production model' bike. I posted it elsewhere and most people said it was Marsha Hunt of the musical 'Hair' fame but I don't think so. She looks more European to me, more like a Julie Driscoll type with a Marsha Hunt style wig on.
What does everyone else think?

Got a few wheels to strip down to recondition. Some are CB750 front and rear and some CB250K .Never had a go at wheel-building but want to have try sometime soon. My worst condition wheel is a CB750K1 front, which I won't be using. If I leave this one assembled will it act as a lacing pattern guide for all of the other wheels, albeit some are 36 and some 40 spoke wheels? One for Bryan I suspect! Or any of you other wheel-building guys out there.
Cheers .... AshD

Just an update on my 750 carb inlet rubbers that I softened in 2010 with Reofos 50 chemical. The originals were rock hard but after treatment in 2010 they are as still soft and supple / compliant in 2014. OK they have not been fitted to the bike yet but pretty amazing transformation in the hardness. Another member tried a sample I gave him, without success, but you need to heat the chemical up and immersion time is important. I need to treat the other rubbers so will keep you posted. Also need to try the airbox 'rubbers' as they are a form of plastic not rubber (well on the K0 750 anyway). I will try to send photos' before and after treatment (i.e compression at a known load on treated and untreated parts) It may be hard to get hold of though, I will ask the guy who got mine if he can get his Purchasing people to let me know where they buy it from and costs. UKPete ... I know I promised you some to try and not forgotten but my 'contact' for it has been off ill for a while...but he should be back at work soon http://www.greatlakes.com/deployedfiles/ChemturaV8/GreatLakes/Flame%20Retardants/FR%20Products/Reofos%2050%20TDS.pdfCheers ...
