Misc / Open / Re: What happens if an exhaust mounting stud snaps off?« on: May 16, 2024, 01:40:46 PM »
I came across this when I was stripping down the F1 to start the rebuild, at first there was a broken stub visible about 1 inch, so I tried heat, penetrating oil, freezing stuff all to no avail.
I then used a roller type extracter which broke the stud revealing that nothing at all had penetrated So it was head off and away to a machine shop, this did not bother me too much as I then could check the top end as the bike had been in storage for 10 years, I did find a stuck piston ring so it was worth it. Thank you guys, I'm off to the hospital this afternoon for the first check up after the op, but it seems to be working well.

Nice one, dead jealous but hopefully on the way back to getting out on the bike, left thumb joint replace, now some rehab and then the throttle hand later in the year.

CB750 / Re: Wow this is the real deal 1968 prototype CB750« on: May 16, 2024, 10:44:52 AM »
Fascinating, and amazing that it survived, though the full story would be even better.

With all that going on a grump is a perfectly normal reaction, so don't worry about it.
It's a lot to take in and will take time for the pain to fade. Dennis 9

That bike sure is looking pretty, I have always liked the looks of those 500 pipes, it sounds like a lot of faffing around to fit them but it will be worth it in the end.
Keep up the good work. Cheers Dennis 10

Looks like whoever fitted those pipes was smoking something very strong, they are really horrible.

Out & About / Re: OUT AND ABOUT 2024« on: April 14, 2024, 11:04:53 AM »Good luck with the op Dennis. I had a biopsy carried out on my right ear a couple of weeks ago and it is still too painful to even attempt to put a crash helmet on! Now that sounds nasty Cheers Dennis |
