The latter is correct for my 1976 F2 model, the button earths the horn, this was discussed several years ago on here, and I have an (ex-ebay) A3 size coloured diagram showing it

Not forgetting that any form of turning a seized gallery cap will cause further damage if it is the threads that are seized and not the o-ring surfaces

+ the above, I remove my 400/4 seized one using a die grinder cutter to remove the head and "groove" it internally, then collapsed it in and off the thread, luckily, I had a tap that cleared the threads afterwards

Copper grease can dry out, but it won't melt or run at high temperatures, and we aren't talking about fast rotations, just loading.

Thin smear of moly. grease or copper grease works a treat.

A dealer told me years ago that the shaft/sealing bush/bearing was not a strip down item and you bought the shaft with bearing and the sealing sleeve pre-assembled, maybe that is why the o ring is not listed, I replaced the bearing in the eighties, and the sleeve was hard to remove, but was not a tight fit on replacing, I secured it with a couple of tack welds.

Mine were 4.7 ohms  tosuit the ignition system, but they do several different ones depending on make and model, if you give them a ring, they are very helpful

Worked well with my Bransden ignition set up, almost same spec as my 400/4 originals.

The 400N front end with twin disks fit straight into the 400/4 yokes with no mods apart from a better master cylinder, but it gives you a 19in front wheel. I don't think the 400/4 rear brake plate is interchangeable with the 250N rear brake, I have had a similar setup since 1985, recently overhauled, but now on 18in front wheel

Now into my 3rd month for my over 70's 3yr. renewal, couldn't do it online as they had no photo and could not prove my identity, only had a full license for 59 years, bloody computer driven dribble aided and abetted by covid excuses as to why they did not work for 12 months, not as if they face the public!

CB350/400 / Re: 400/4 Wheel bearing questions ?

Sealed bearings used to come double sided when new, one side, the inner shield was removed and some extra dab of grease fed into the wheel centre on building up the wheel.

One thing is certain, I certainly will not ever again repeat a job from my twenties, lift an excavator 10ft up and off its king post using 20 ton jacks and chocking it with railway sleepers, 6 inch at a time.

And don't forget the "what if" syndrome, the older you get, the more time you spend wondering what will happen (go wrong?) before you start something, instead of just doing it.

Everything becomes slower and more difficult as one gets older, and not only that, after retirement, there aren't enough hours in the day to do absolutely nothing.
